Renee Dueck Memorial Award

Ray,

I just wanted to let you know that we are again giving out the Renee Dueck Memorial Award to a first year film student who is courageous, creative , thoughtful, and "always there for you", expertise in photography is a bonus. The first years vote for the person that they think has these qualities, it is a peer award. Dani Eggen and Shannon Archibald, lead this process and will present the award on Thursday April 23rd at the first year screening.

all the best

Seanna:
Thank you so much for continuing to honour Renee's memory. We'd love to be there for the presentation, but it is not possible this year. Perhaps next.
We wish all the graduates well and in particular, the recipient of this year's award. Congratulations and all the best in the years to come. For more information check out www.ReneeDueck.com and www.MarthaDueck.com

Life is tough

Yesterday I met with Cameron. He lost his son at age 18 in a boating accident 6 years ago. Life has not been the same for him or his family since then. You just don't get over it, he says. I gave him a Renee Memorial card and a Living LifeLight NT.

Easter Sunday evening we went to Steinbach to visit Taunte Liz. During the day we had Justin and Alayna and Alayna's friends for Easter dinner of smoked turkey and other indulgent goodies.

Good Friday we had the Reimer Easter gathering at Martha's mom.

I spend a lot of time in Morris nowadays. Between that, the flood, and St Adolphe, sometimes I'm not sure where to turn.

Tonight Martha and I have tickets for the Gorden Lightfoot concert at the MTS Centre. That should be enjoyable. The other option was to go to Compassionate Friends.

Today is 30 years to the day our Jason died at Toronto's Sick Kids hospital. The Dr there who claimed to be "the fountain of truth" was not.

Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of my 39th birthday. I am looking forward to my friend Carlin coming for the weekend to spend time with us.

My mom's 85th birthday is on Monday. Hopefully we can go see her then.

another week

Another week has come and gone.

Highlights:

Friend Selwyn came from Vancouver for meetings and he and I had a half hour to chat.
A new invention was unveiled this week and will be working hard next week. The picture is deliberately backlit, waiting patent registration.
We had more snow.
We are moving into the offices at 1555 Hwy 210 E, near St Adolphe. Come visit us there.

We have booked tickets to go to Halifax to help Kara move home. It will be so nice to have her back.
Yesterday we went to visit Martha's mom and took her for lunch to Hecla Resort. Stopped in to see Mrs Friesen in her new home at Dwight & Lorna's. For supper we went to my mom & dad & Rose. It sure is a blessing that Rose is willing to live with mom & dad, and help them so much. They are hoping to move into the new assisted living facility in Arborg by Fall. Alvin is waiting for final details approval so he can start.
Today we went to McIvor MB for the 9am service and to our church for the 11:15 service. After lunch I had a snooze, and then we took Justin out for Sushi "faspa" Alayna got her training today at the Niakwa Restaurant.
