Summit Church Thunder Bay

Tonkanin the police officer:
Finnish do Christmas on Christmas eve
We have some untruthful people here. Who is here for the first time?
Melody the best gift ever? Got 7 dinky cars at age 6.
Mr Fairs leads the men's group. Dad made a little barn for me and a little non functioning rifle at age 5. We now gave it to Caleb.
Leslie and Sue made lunch for others.
Gift. A chatty Cathy doll. Pull the string and it talked to you. Loved it very much.
Finns don't have guns.
We have memories. The material possessions pass away.
Isaiah 9:6,7
A child is born to us, a son is given to us, and authority will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be vast authority and endless peace for David's throne and for his kingdom, establishing and sustaining it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of heavenly forces will do this.
Isaiah 9:6‭-‬7 CEB

There are refugees who have seen atrocities. Jesus was born 2022 years ago.
In times of stress we get upset. I play worship music and pray and the stress lifts. I remember God's peace. We have no excuse. In times of turmoil remember God gives us peace. There is God's peace for panic attacks. Share it with family and friends. The angels brought good news.
Fear NOT!
Luke 2:13
The message of hope. Celebrate the hope. Share the message of hope that comes from Easter.
Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 CEB

Went to Nigeria for dad's funeral. Sang Give me Jesus.
That gave me peace. That funeral was not easy.
If the enemy is tormenting you or if you have never given your life to Christ you are not here by mistake. Give your life to Christ now. Think about the peace that God gives you. There is Jesus's peace. Get on your knees and pray.
Joy to the world the Lord has come.

Happy 4th Advent!

Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
Think ahead 3 weeks. Christmas is done. Your wallet is empty and you are searching for weight loss plans.
Was it worth it? Think about it now. How will you make it worthwhile?
John the cousin of Jesus was also born.
Matthew 3
In those days John the Baptist appeared in the desert of Judea announcing, "Change your hearts and lives! Here comes the kingdom of heaven!" He was the one of whom Isaiah the prophet spoke when he said: The voice of one shouting in the wilderness, " Prepare the way for the Lord;  make his paths straight. "  Produce fruit that shows you have changed your hearts and lives. I baptize with water those of you who have changed your hearts and lives. The one who is coming after me is stronger than I am. I'm not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Matthew 3:1‭-‬3‭, ‬8‭, ‬11 CEB

John's story is short. Was he successful? Is his life what a God honoring life looks like? The next time we encounter him he is questioning Jesus. "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"
Matthew 11:3 CEB
Are you real? John got beheaded shortly after.
Jesus answer: Those who were blind are able to see . Those who were crippled are walking. People with skin diseases are cleansed. Those who were deaf now hear. Those who were dead are raised up. The poor have good news proclaimed to them .  Happy are those who don't stumble and fall because of me."
Matthew 11:5‭-‬6 CEB

The LORD 's ransomed ones will return and enter Zion with singing, with everlasting joy upon their heads. Happiness and joy will overwhelm them; grief and groaning will flee away.
Isaiah 35:10 CEB
Out of lifeless will come life. Handel's Messiah includes this chapter.
What will your salvation look like?
Yes. This is what God's salvation looks like!
All are one in Jesus.
Was it all worth it? Who is your neighbor that needs to hear?

Balancing the Scales

Isaiah 11
LIn 586 a terrible army destroyed
Israel. Yahweh wants a people that love him.
500 years later Jesus came.
A shoot will grow up from the stump of Jesse; a branch will sprout from his roots. The LORD's spirit will rest upon him, a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of planning and strength, a spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD. He will delight in fearing the LORD. He won't judge by appearances, nor decide by hearsay. Righteousness will be the belt around his hips, and faithfulness the belt around his waist. The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; the calf and the young lion will feed together, and a little child will lead them. A nursing child will play over the snake's hole; toddlers will reach right over the serpent's den. They won't harm or destroy anywhere on my holy mountain. The earth will surely be filled with the knowledge of the LORD , just as the water covers the sea.
Isaiah 11:1‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭-‬6‭, ‬8‭-‬9 CEB

Luke 1.31 Matthew 2.2
Psalm talked about justice.
God came in and punished Israel.  We judge too often. God knows what we do. To often it becomes oppression.
The season is not about us. The kingdom is coming to celebrate what God is doing

Testimony journey

Ken Silk.
Grew up in Christian home. Billy Graham was in town. Sat up on the top level. When he made the alter call he dragged his girlfriend down all those stairs to get to the floor. Someone came to talk and pray. He started preaching on the bus but his parents had no use for what he had done.
It took years.
Now involved in business and traveling around the world. Heart in ministry. Youth leader pastor. Doing gospel work in all sorts of ways whatever God has asked for.
In Ireland they loved the accent.
At a church meeting met the girl that God told me I would marry. 3 years later got engaged and married. Wonderful wife she was and is now in heaven. Geoblastoma. At age 40. 3 days to surgery. 6 months to live. She ate healthy. She was a stay at home mom.
They cried and committed it to God. People were getting saved. The 12 year old kids became involved. They helped pray and call on Jesus. She lived 25 months. We did the medical trip. Every relative had a cure.
Fasted and prayed and prepared for the memorial. She had a massive seizure and after that she couldn't talk. That was hard.
What I did for her was sacrificial but nothing compared to Christ. Had respite help. Knew something was happening. There was never any anger.
God if this is your time then take her quickly. Called her parents. They came she stopped breathing. Took her pulse. When it stopped we prayed and thanked God for who she was.
We could not have anger about this. She was my precious partner. 700 people showed up for the memorial. She is now in the fullness of Christ.
In 2015 God brought another woman into my life. She's a makeup girl. So different.
God taught me so much through her. I want to die to self. And learn what God has for me.
It's about what God has for me.

Sometimes the only thing we can do is pray.

Baptismal Sunday 12 baptisms 4 transfers

See the video at www.EasTview.org/sermons
Jaylene believes and is baptized.

Susan and numbers. She no longer wants to go through the wilderness. Wants to be baptized.

Matthew grew up in non Christian home. Now his family is here. Now believes that Jesus is the son of God and died for him. He accepted and chooses to follow Jesus.

Leoni felt unloved and unworthy. Wanted to end her life and then God intervened. At that moment she knew. Came to a youth event scarred. Found out they were not so scary. I know I've been saved. I want to be Baptised.

Nathan started coming to www.EasTview.org earlier this year. Felt he was not good enough for redemption. Went to a retreat and decided to become a follower of Jesus. Johnny prayed with me. Wanted to be baptized. Is choosing to follow Jesus.

Juanita grew up in a wonderful Christian home. Went to a weekend retreat at Briercrest. Baptised just before wedding. Told that her 2nd baby should be aborted but he was born alive and is now doing fine. Had a third healthy baby.

August was into sports. Went to church as an obligation. Got major injury. Baptised at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church. When our son was about to be born a lady helped our daughter off the play structure. It turned out that she was the head nurse at NICU. My play book now is the Bible. We want to be part of this.

Sing now. Hark the herald angels sing glory to the newborn king.

Mission Sunday

Dave F has been fellowshipping at Willowdale Tyndale church for 2 years. They are a small church plant from www.EasTview.org

Stephane S spent a year in Sweden and did outreach to Poland from there. Basketball camp. Now want to be an ongoing witness. To Pray with people.

Dave Sinclair-Peters working with Burmese migrant workers and planted 3 churches among them. Isaiah was trafficked into Thailand and Jesus transformed his life. He is now planting churches in Burma Myanmar. 10 interns were sent to discipleship school.
Louise and a team delivered computers to a school of 300 when they were interrupted by 5 angry monks. After Louise spoke to them they calmed down but forbade them to go to the next village. But they did anyway.

Message by Louise
That encounter was scarry. The Spirit of intimation is what Satan uses to stop Christians from witnessing.
2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of timidity but with power love and a sound mind.
Courage is learned. Try it 50 times. Pastor Isaiah has planted 10 churches among the Burmese migrants. Share your testimony again and again. Pray and pray.
MBMSI prayer team was sent out to be ninja warriors. Isaiah started to teach farmers how to farm. Developed trust and farmers became Christians. At Christmas he put on a party. The monks wrecked the generator. A woman from another village came and was healed of breast cancer and told their neighbours inviting them to the next village.
Isaiah was arrested and released. The doors are wide open now.

The prayers are effective. 2 Moravian Christians sold themselves for Christ knowing they would never come back. Are you prepared to do that?

Dave and Louise have been missionaries since 2000 and are now moving to Burma and learning the language.

Eastview has a mission budget of $140,000 to be raised December 23 & 24

Share Your Story

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty gain,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven's joys, O bright Heaven's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org
Begin your day with prayer

Pastor Dave Ens
Stories - Exodus the story of Moses
Moses is redeemed from the Egyptian curse. He became a ruler over his own people. He killed an Egyptian and was found out and had to run.
Your story is the most effective witness the church has. About a life that is lived. Your way of life. Not just theory and ideas. Your life is a witness.

Micah 6:8 walk humbly with your God
We love embracing love but not so much to walk with Him. We don't like conflict. We are uncomfortably doing what God wants.
Moses ran from conflict. To do the right thing. The only way to avoid conflict is to do nothing. He went to the wilderness. Herding sheep. Moses's story is not about him but about God. A new chapter in life. God called Moses to act 3:7-10
This was God's plan. Save your people. God will do this. Moses said BUT 5 times. Send someone else. He knew he would have a lot of conflict if he did this. Pharoah doesn't like me. I hear you God BUT
Don't let the negatives get you down. Accept and embrace what God has for you. John 10:10 the Sheep have to do their part to survive.

What's your story? What drives you?

Nobody likes conflict. Focus on God. 4:14 God was getting angry at Moses. But God was patient with him and the story becomes a story of God's grace.

What's your story? Face your fears. Tell it.

Wedding ceremony for Elizabeth and Adam

Wedding ceremony for Elizabeth and Adam
http://bible.com/111/jhn.17.20-23.NIV "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,  that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—  I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

True unity is only available in Jesus. The cross is also the way to restore unity through prayer.

As a doctor Elizabeth knows about unity. As a doctor Adam knows the importance of reduced resistance in the wind tunnel. Prayer sustains and reduces the resistance. God holds the universe together. God loves you just like he loves his Son.

Help the world believe.

Will you be faithful to her alone as long as you both shall live?

I give you this ring as a sign of the covenant

Living: For Others

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Dec 4 Baptism Sunday

Others
What is the church? What would the world look like if God were in charge?
Meeting the needs of others is foundational in reflecting God. Do we develop donor fatigue?

If our motivation is in the wrong place it can be damaging. 7 sons of the priest thought they could drive out a demon but the demon overpowered them. Acts 17

Jesus said invite the poor. Don't just consider them a project.

Genesis 12:1-3 you will be a blessing
Matthew http://bible.com/111/mat.6.25.NIV "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
It's hard to be a blessing when we worry.
Trust God to meet your needs and God will bless you and make you a blessing.

We help others and expect recognition. That's wrong. We need to do it because of what God has given us.

The love of Christ motivates us. Even when people are ungrateful.

When we meet needs the way God wants us to there are going to be people that will pick up the desire to help others.

God wants to pour into others like Jesus did for us.

Music: Sweet Holy Spirit
There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place
And I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord
There are sweet expressions on each face
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord

Sweet Holy Spirit... sweet heavenly dove...
Stay right here with us
Filling us with Your love

And for these blessings
We lift our hearts in praise
Without a doubt we know
That we'll have been revived
When we shall leave this place

One of our favorite Pat Boone songs after our first born son Kris died.

Message:
We each need a personal revelation from God.

David Wilkerson asked: whatever happened to repentance?
http://www.tscpulpitseries.org/english/1990s/ts990802.html

Real change comes after real repentance. Jesus preached repentance all the time. Get ready now for Jesus's coming again.
Woo woop!
What are you holding on to? Repent. Get in the right place! You might look good on the outside but be full of dead man's bones. You can't fool God.
Acts

Repentance is more than walking in the opposite direction. The Bible tells us it's more. To feel remorse and to WANT to change direction. Do what it takes. Get good mind food. Train yourself to want it for yourself. Change comes when I realized that I was hurting my Father and his creation. When I'm hurting me I'm hurting everyone. Need to Want real change.
Godly sorrow produces Repentance. Need to get sick of the sinful life. Not having fun. Homeless. In a crack shack. Not Fun.
Do you think just believing in Jesus is enough?
Are masses of unrepentant people thinking they'll get to heaven on easy street?
TC has impacted 100s of 1000s over the years. You need true repentance.
Jesus died on the cross for you. Repeat after me. My wife had a huge collection of horror movies. Now she has repented and can't stand them any more.
Real repentance can lead to a pile of tears. Overwhelmed about what God is doing. Peter cried when he realized that he had denied his Lord Jesus. God is greater than anything.

Keep repenting. Sorrow for sin should be our constant teacher. Deep sorrow is good. 7 churches of Revelation are given a view of themselves. 2:4 lost love.
We are here to dedicate our lives to Jesus. Love God with all your heart.
Repent. Not enough time?

Become best friends with the Holy Spirit. Say yes to Jesus.

SUMMIT CHURCH Thunder Bay

Pastor Giuseppe 807.622.1030 www.summitchurchtbay.ca
Christmas Child deadline next week Nov 13 aim to pack 300
This is transformational

Starting point class starts in a few weeks.

Christmas day and New Year's falls on Sunday this year. We will have normal church service times.

Spirit Empowered Living
1. Passionate. Be Christ centered.

2. The Word of God is living and active

3. Passionately Spirit Empowered

God wants to birth something new and timely. To be Spirit led.
Focus on the Supernatural God. The Holy Spirit is the doorway providing the right equipment. Jesus rules.
Make disciples of all nations. We cannot fulfill the Great Commission without the filling of the Holy Spirit. Wait for the Power.

How he equips us
1. Clothes
2. Gifts 1 Corinthians 12:3
http://bible.com/111/1co.12.3-5.NIV Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.  There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.

Without it we can't be witnesses. There is confusion about supernatural gifts. Satan can do it to. Through people. Acts 8:9 Phillip is traveling through Samaria and there was a man who had been doing magic.

You can tell a tree by its fruit and God's spirit will not scare you. Satan has experience in heaven and can imitate Christ. Quit messing around with things that are not of the Spirit of God.

Gifts here means charisma - grace endowment. Undeserved. This charismatic church has been endowed. The phone has to be plugged in and it comes alive when it's charged.

Last week Mel spoke in tongues for the 1st time.

Practice the gifts - prophecy and all other gifts. Pursue them. Make room for the gifts. 1 Corinthians. They are for the purpose of God. Ephesians 4. Build in love.

3. He guides us into all truth. Let him lead you. It is something to grow into. Worship in Spirit and in Truth. John 4:

4. He speaks to us what he hears. I recognize my wife's voice from across the noisy room.

5. He HELPS us. Paracletos - someone alongside. A legal advocate.

Are you listening?

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org

We tend to be busy preparing to respond before we're finished listening.

Jesus prayed all night before appointing his disciples.
Listen with our ears eyes and heart.
God spoke to Abraham. Genesis 12.1

The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.

Listening is the bedrock of community. 'I love you' can be said with at least 3 different emphasis. Body language changes the meaning as well.

Luke 18.35
http://bible.com/116/luk.18.35-42.nlt As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind beggar was sitting beside the road. So he began shouting, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, And Jesus said, "All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you."

The rich man wanted money and Jesus's blessings. This man wanted mercy.

Jesus heard and responded. He healed. But first he asked an obvious question. What are you looking for?

Last Sunday's assignment was to get to know someone. This week's assignment is to learn to listen.

5 of 11 grandchildren are handicapped in one of our church families. What can we do for you? Let me listen to you and do what will benefit you. What can I do for you today?

Listen to what you know that needs to be done. Can you hear the whimper?

The Father is always at work in each one of us.

Martha welcomed Jesus into her house. Mary sat down to listen. Sit at Jesus's feet. Many of us are Marthas. Listen to the small voice. Share the Lord's Supper and say YES to Jesus!

Begin with Prayer

Mark Enns report on Shamattawa.
They had tent meetings and touched many people.
The new church is free to go on for hours singing loudly.
We did a barbeque and 2 kids helped and gave their burgers to someone that was more hungry.
Greg started this whirlwind and MB MISSION happily got sucked into it.

What can the future look like for Shamattawa? God has invited everyone to come alongside.

We went to a wake. Daniel Redhead and Eli were leading the singing in Cree. They asked us to join them in Cree. We are no longer outsiders.

Greg. Thankful for the monetary support to make banana muffins. Perimeter Aviation takes the muffins up there at no charge. Contact Greg@eastview.org if you want to help.
Met a man at Remand that wanted help.
2 teachers started a volleyball and basketball teams. Need jerseys and other supplies. Check out his Facebook page.

Camp Arnes youth leader's convention this coming weekend.

Pastor Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
I begin each day with a blessing prayer. Send someone in to bless and be blessed.
Had a call from someone wanting him officiating at a funeral. Missed 2 opportunities recently. My plate is so full.

I am a child of God and a benefactor of the grace of Jesus. I'm an official child of God first. God leads us to bless others.

Genesis 12.1 God said I will make you a blessing.
Blessing people is your mission. It begins with prayer. Jesus takes us from our comfort zone. I might love being a do gooder but not build relationships.

Luke 6.12
http://bible.com/1275/luk.6.12-13.CJB It was around that time that Yeshua went out to the hill country to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. When day came, he called his talmidim and chose from among them twelve to be known as emissaries:

Jesus spent all night in prayer before selection of his key followers. Away from everyone to keep from being side tracked. Do you begin the day with prayer?

Would you go to the top of the mountain to pray for guidance? Or Google to solve your problems?

Do you too need to pray all night?

2. Prayer impacts people and events. You need the Holy Spirit
Luke 11.11
http://bible.com/1275/luk.11.11-13.CJB "Is there any father here who, if his son asked him for a fish, would instead of a fish give him a snake? So if you, even though you are bad, know how to give your children gifts that are good, how much more will the Father keep giving the Ruach HaKodesh from heaven to those who keep asking him!"

God grant me a miracle. I was praying and weeping because of a sciatic nerve problem. Someone came up to be blessed that night.

3. Prayer changes your perspective. Change me first. What was the first thing that came out of your mouth? Peace or frustration.

5 minute drill assignment: reach out to someone today.
Build community: how can I pray for you today? I want to bless you. If this is difficult you need of Jesus.

Discover your mission

Who likes Monday?
Del Enns www.EasTview.org pastor
C. S. Lewis quote

Do you have the same old same old? Face the fear of the unknown and do something else.
What do we HAVE to do?

Why am I here?  John 4.1
http://bible.com/1275/jhn.4.1-4.CJB
When Yeshua learned that the P'rushim had heard he was making and immersing more talmidim than Yochanan (although it was not Yeshua himself who immersed but his talmidim ), Yeshua left Y'hudah and set out again for the Galil. This meant that he had to pass through Shomron.

Samaritans believed they had the original books of Moses. Jews thought Satan had defiled that version.
Jesus decided he should go there because he had to meet the woman at the well.

Jesus changed her life.

Jesus mission is about reaching the lost. She wanted the water Jesus offered. She was spiritual.

A Paraguayan fellow responded to a radio program and eventually he was baptized and he now lives a different life.

The Father's love is for everyone. Jesus reinstated people into God's love.

She was never happy. Never had enough.

1990 some people left the River East MB to establish EasTview with a mission to lead people to Jesus and on to maturity with him.

Genesis 12
I will make of you a great nation, I will bless you, and I will make your name great; and you are to be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

Introduce yourself to someone today.

Passion Purpose People Committed to Biblical Truth
What's so great about the Bible?
No one challenges other ancient texts. There is something different and all universities try to discredit it.
Isaiah 41.21 God of the Universe challenges us
http://bible.com/116/isa.42.8-9.nlt "I am the lord ; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens."
Predictive prophesy is the best indicator of God is God.
40 authors over 1400 years are all declaring the same truth. 17-20% is predictive. The rest is contemporary. Some predictions are 2000 years into the future.
Predictions of Jesus to be born in Bethlehem and coming from Nazareth. The Ruler of all. With a forerunner. The odds are multiplied. 300 verses Predict Jesus. The odds are astronomical for this to just happen. Isaiah named Sirus 800 years before he showed up.
Daniel predicted 490 years from the decree to the time of the Messiah.
Isaiah 53 points to Jesus. 1947 the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered including all of Isaiah. That same Lord is here right now.
John 5
http://bible.com/116/jhn.5.2-17.nlt Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches.  One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?" Jesus told him, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!" Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, "You can't work on the Sabbath! The law doesn't allow you to carry that sleeping mat!" But Jesus replied, "My Father is always working, and so am I."

Jesus called God Father. He said He has authority.

How you treat the son is how you treat the father. He is also the judge of the universe.
He had witnesses. John. Father. The Works. I am the unmarked son of God. The 4th witness is the the Word of God.
Have you ever been there? You could know the map but not know the Truth. John 5:40 they refuse to come to the source. Lord have mercy on us.

Pharisees - we say thank you God I'm not a Pharisee and I become one.
We must come to the Living Word devotionally. Learn it well.

Facebook is about seeking praise.  People cherry pick and proof text the Bible. We need to come to Jesus to have life.
Beware of the confirmation bias. When we meet the Living Word we will constantly be challenged. It will cut off the bad stuff. It will change us.
It will transform us.
The only affirmation Jesus needed was from the Father. Can we get to that point?

http://bible.com/116/jhn.5.44.nlt No wonder you can't believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don't care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God.

Has Bible reading become dull? Now is the time to meet the Living Word.
http://bible.com/116/jhn.5.44-46.nlt
No wonder you can't believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don't care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God. If you really believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.

If John's baptism was the washing away of sin why did Jesus get Baptised? Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus was re-enacting the exodus of Isreal and Moses. He was the real Moses the real Isreal
V28 Jesus said we will hear his voice. If you've heard his voice on this side of the grave you'll hear it on the other side.
Have you heard?
John has the story of Lazarus. Jesus wept. I am the resurrection Jesus said. Martha do you believe? Lord have mercy.
Please diligently read the scriptures. It will come alive.
John 4:23 for next time

Soldiers for the Jesus Nation
The Victoria Cross is given most often for falling on a grenade. Osborne grabbed grenades and threw them back until there was one that he couldn't throw back and he was killed.
Jesus died forgiving his enemies. We practice enemy love because Jesus did.
2 Timothy 2 http://bible.com/100/2ti.2.1-11.nasb
You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

The war we fight requires us to be committed.
The War and the Way and the Why we Fight
The war against argument

Jesus's kingdom is not of this world. We don't fight.
We are rooted in enemy love.

Enlist in Jesus training. Get baptized.

Inspired Abilities

Pastor Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
http://bible.com/116/1co.12.1-11.nlt
Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don't want you to misunderstand this. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Mozart wrote at age 4. Some people have exceeded expectations. Most of us are astoundingly average. But all of us have special gifting.

The talents were handed out based on abilities. The one that got only 1 decided that the master undervalued him so he did nothing.

What's a talent what's a gift? Talents are natural gifts. They need to be given to God.
Gifts are inspired and God given. To serve God. Surrendered to Christ.

The Corinthian church was arguing. Paul had to straighten them out. The talented were lording it over others.
Gifts come in 3 groups speaking service
Inspired Abilities are always inspired by the Holy Spirit. Nothing happens unless the Holy Spirit works in the gifted. The focus is on the giver.
Talents lead to competition. Who's the best?

Imagine a perfect church video.
If you feel neglected sorry. Let us know.

It may be a hard thing for an egg to become a bird, it would be a jolly sight harder for a bird to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.

C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

The Lord's Table. Jesus said I do this because I love you.

Healthier Growth

What's the first thing you do in the morning? Look in the mirror?
What's the reflection you see?
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see indistinctly,  as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.
We do what we do because we do what we think.
Do we tell ourselves it sucks to be me. That's a broken mindset.
Jesus is a grace giver. He provides a growth mindset.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you  to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.   Do not be conformed  to this age,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  of God.

What preceded this?
http://bible.com/72/rom.11.36.hcsb For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
Everything came from him and goes back to him.
We need his mercies every day. We are broken vessels and need transformation.

Stop blaming and ask for a growth mindset. Use a larger mirror to see what needs to be fixed.
Surrender your body to God.
Coffee addicts have tough withdrawal if they decide to quit.
You need the Holy Spirit to have a Growth Mindset.
If I say I am a child of God but.... then I'm not in Growth
If I say I am a child of God therefore... I can have a growth mindset.
Submit and believe. We are beautiful the way we are.
http://bible.com/72/rom.12.3.hcsb
For by the grace  given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think.  Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.
Warped mirrors give warped images. "I can do it myself" is a warped image. Narcissism. We are meant to work together.
We need one another.
http://bible.com/72/rom.12.6.hcsb
According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of one's faith;... do it cheerily
The perfect mirror is the Word of God.
Oct 15 will teach a course on fruitful spiritual life.
GROWTH MINDSET. Pray for it. That will change you.

Astonishing Grace

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org
Emotions
A picture is worth a 1000 words

We have been forgiven. Grace.
Who wants to grow spiritually this fall? Are you desperate?
2 Corinthians 3.18
http://bible.com/72/2co.3.18.hcsb
We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at   the glory of the Lord  and are being transformed  into the same image  from glory to glory;  this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Grace is a gift that cost God everything.
We need to be loving.
Matthew 20.1-2 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.   After agreeing with the workers on one denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.
A soldier's daily wage.
He kept going back and hiring people all day. At the end everyone got the same pay. Something went wrong. There was no justice and fairness.
http://bible.com/72/mat.20.14-16.hcsb
Take what's yours and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you. Don't I have the right to do what I want with my business?    Are you jealous because I'm generous? ' "So the last will be first, and the first last."

How many of us would work for this landowner?

To give or to receive grace is always hard. Grace is a gift. This landowner was kind and loving.
Astonishing Grace
- is always a free gift.
- Keeps us living with the right perspective. Do you feel inadequate?
You are called at the 11th hour by a Loving Farmer. God knows your need
- it always works out. Complaining happens. Why? What would it look like if we were more forgiving.
- allows us to start from the beginning. Covered by the grace of God. This does not work for people who operate on results. We get the do-over. Do I consider myself the recipient of grace?

Thank you Father for providing a way out with astonishing Grace.

Mission of God

Pastor Mark Hughes
Mission of God has a church
Intersection of the 1st century church and the 21st century. Harvard was originally a seminary with 70% of graduates becoming pastors.
YMCA was started as a Christian organization and now has abandoned it's mandate. Now the Y. Why not the A?

The early church grew with the Mission of God. Took care of the poor. The real mission is to add more deciples 2,000 3,000 and multiplied numbers. The numbers are not important. Growth is.

Jesus came to seek and save the lost. That's our mission. Become relentless in reaching the world. We are on a mission from God.
1. A burden
Nothing stops Paul Romans 9.1
To bring the Israelites to Christ. Even of he lost his life.
What a contract with today. So many don't want new people in the church.
Tony Compollo said 30,000 children died last night of malnutrition but you don't give a ___ (Mennonite word for manure)

Went to remote Sable islands and took a bush road and ended up at the bottom of a giant gravel pit. No one stopped us before we got there. The people on the way just stood by and let us go to the pit. It is our responsibly to keep people from going to the pit of hell. It was never prepared for people. God does not want people to go to hell.
Grandma was so excited about Dwight L Moody she sponsored him to come to Brandon. He saw godless people going to hell without Christ. He led a 1,000,000 people to Christ without TV and radio.
Do you have a burden for the lost with the love of Christ.
The Great Commission is to go to ALL the world.
The Great Commandment is to love God and your neighbor. To love your neighbour is to bring them to Jesus.
Jesus told parables. The lost sheep. The lost coin of the wedding necklace. She got excited about finding it and threw a party.
The Lost son. When he came back to the father he celebrated.

The porn pastor said the porn star is not going hell because he's a porn star but because he has not accepted Christ. The pastor is potentially loving him into the kingdom.
Always give the invitation for people to come to a personal relationship with Christ.
God loves you.

David in Hall of Faith

1 Samuel 24
David was on the edge of the Dead Sea hiding in a wilderness cave trying to survive. That's where his faith was formed encountering God. Psalm 57 is his wilderness song.
http://bible.com/72/psa.57.1.hcsb
Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for I take refuge in You. I will seek refuge in the shadow of Your wings until danger passes.

http://bible.com/72/1sa.24.8-10.hcsb
After that, David got up, went out of the cave, and called to Saul, "My lord the king! " When Saul looked behind him, David bowed to the ground in homage.   David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to the words of people who say, 'Look, David intends to harm you'? You can see with your own eyes that the Lord handed you over to me today in the cave.  Someone advised me to kill you,  but I   took pity on you and said: I won't lift my hand against my lord, since he is the Lord 's anointed.

Saul has ruined David's life. David should have killed Saul but David's faith kept him from murder.
How do we define beautiful? Do I see things through the eyes of God?
It takes a long time to shift our eyes from society's perspective to God's. It requires an active response. Let go of things that blind me. We grow up seeing people in certain kinds of ways. Love your neighbour and your enemy.
www.One88.org is an outreach to inner city. A hard to deal with fellow is disrupting things. Should he be banned? Chase him away? Can we see the image of God in him? Can we look at him with a different lens?
When we encounter such a person what should we do? Who are you following? Is my god agreeing with all my responses? Jesus changes things. When you lose yourselves you can find yourself in Jesus.
Allow the Spirit to give you a new vision.
Jesus went to the cross so we can find love and grace in him. Jesus died on the cross to healed us. Isaiah says http://bible.com/72/isa.53.5-6.hcsb But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment  for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds. We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished Him for  the iniquity  of us all.

Communion. Participate in the Lord's Supper as a reminder of what Jesus did.

Samson in the Hall of Faith

Children's feature. What's your favorite game?
Baseball. Pokémon Go? All kinds of distractions keep us from God. Samson had distractions. A pretty girl cut his hair. He broke his promise. He ended up in prison where he turned back to God. God gave him back his strength.

Global Leadership Summit October 20-21
http://2scan.it/2bxNaqM

Tragically Hip national broadcast. Gord Downey received a lot of love yesterday. Do we as a church show that much love?

Youth Pastor Johnnie www.EasTview.org

Hebrews 12.1 spent 8 weeks so far this summer.
Idol worship
Oppression
Cry for help
Freedom
This kept repeating itself. Under the Philistines the Israelites seemed to be OK. But God sent Samson.
We are a world of impulsiveness on Facebook.
Friends had a son with problems. They found out that at best Jacob had cerebral palsy. That was devastating.
Judges 13
http://bible.com/72/jdg.13.18-20.hcsb "Why do you ask My name," the Angel of the Lord asked him, "since it is wonderful." Manoah took a young goat and a grain offering and offered them on a rock to the Lord , and He did a wonderful thing  while Manoah and his wife were watching. When the flame went up from the altar to the sky, the Angel of the Lord went up in its flame. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell facedown on the ground.

http://bible.com/72/jdg.14.16-17.hcsb So Samson's wife came to him, weeping, and said, "You hate me and don't love me!  You told my people the riddle, but haven't explained it to me." "Look," he said,  "I haven't even explained it to my father or mother, so why should I explain it to you? " She wept the whole seven days of the feast, and at last, on the seventh day, he explained it to her, because she had nagged him so much. Then she explained it to her people.

http://bible.com/72/jdg.16.21-30.hcsb The Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes. They brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze shackles, and he was forced to grind grain in the prison. But his hair began to grow back after it had been shaved. Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines." He pushed with all his might, and the temple fell on the leaders and all the people in it. And the dead he killed at his death were more than those he had killed in his life.

There is great power in Christ. Be faithful.

The life group prayed for Jacob before the next scan. Now they saw nothing. Jacob is perfectly fine. This was healing from God. Now he is 5 and completely healed.

In social media am I posting things that build the kingdom?

http://bible.com/72/jhn.14.12.hcsb "I assure you: The one who believes in Me  will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these,  because I am going to the Father.

Annie Brandt memorial

Anita:
Mom had 11 children I was the middle. Now I'm an orphan.
52 years of memories. How she did this?
She expressed her appreciation
Monday was laundry day.
Tuesday mending and ironing
Friday bake day
Saturday cleaning day
Sunday was church day and rest. And prayer. She prayed faithfully. God heard her prayers.
All 11 children are Jesus followers.
She built trust.
She sent birthday cards to all. She made gifts with 25 pennies from the year of birth for each of her grandchildren when they turned 25.
On their 16th birthday
1949 Plymouth car they rode to the wedding and to their 25th and 50th
She worked at the Thrift Shop a lot.
She and aunt Minna had a special relationship
3 times dad built her a new house. She was a perfectionist. Each house had some imperfections.  Now she has a perfect house in heaven. May her family circle be unbroken.

Grandkids: love you grandma.
Always enjoyed grandma's house her smile hugs and sweets
Joel 2 decades ago got a call about who dug holes in the garden. Wild boars had dug holes in the garden.
Krista and I loved to comb her hair.
She loved to play games with the grandchildren.
Rej loved her cooking
Andre. Loved the cookies
Never thought this day will come. Will cherish your smile. Hug grandpa now.
I will miss your gentle smile and "Come in"

Walter Hamm. Musical tribute. I'm just going over Jordan.

Vic Neufeld. NKMB pastor
She had a Bible at every station in her home.
Got to know mom.
Isaiah spoke words of healing. The sun will never set.
Darkness can be scary.
11 children is like a small nation. Her hospital room was often crowded.

Mom had lots of humor. She'd say things in the negative.

Monday 2 pm at Mennville EMC Church Abe's shiny old car
Rock of Ages cleft for me
Sing the Wondrous Love of Jesus
When we all get to heaven

Grandma's wedding song
Hold to God's Unchanging Hands
Build your hopes on things eternal.

I can only imagine what it will be like

Pastor Dave Thiessen
We come together to share
1969 memory about Abe and Annie Brandt the cutest family in Mennville. Well dressed and combed. Dad Brandt sat with the boys. All well prepped. Prepared and well behaved. Mom sat with the girls.
Thank God.

Grief
Memories
Hope
Today is a time to mourn and weep. A time to dance.
Grief is the emotional response to loss of the loved one.
Physical spiritual loneliness.
Grief is healthy and normal response to loss.
Jesus grieved. Prophets grieved. Read Psalms and Lamantations
Grief is a journey. Sometimes a long one
Grief is the inevitable result of having loved.
Evidently the Brandt has loved. Tell your stories and laugh and cry. Tears and laughter are first cousins.
Talk it out. Write it out. Take counseling. Experience God and let it grow.
Practice good memories. Celebrate the God who cares. Don't forget your history with God. God will not forget us. Please remember God.
Remember your mom who she was
3. Hope is looking into the future expecting good things.
Jesus went through suffering FOR us. Annie followed Jesus. He is our first fruit. 1 Corinthians 15
Christ the first fruit.
Grief and loss is not the last word.  We will follow.
Following Jesus means he is first and we follow. All wrongs will be made right.

We commit Annie into God's care and keeping. May she rest in peace.

We all depend on God's grace. Food next door.

Victor Engbrecht

People's Church Falcon Lake special music by Victor Engbrecht

https://steinbachonline.com/mix-96-7-fm/victor-engbrecht-shares-his-cancer-story

4 grandchildren in 20 months.
When I consider the work of your fingers the sun and the Stars

1.
When I consider the work of Your fingers The sun and the stars, the land and the sea I start to wonder, Almighty Creator Just why You would ever take thought of me

Chorus:    For You have called me by name You are acquainted with all of my ways Bought  by Your blood, drawn by Your love I am Your dwelling place For You have called me Your friend Showing me favor, again and again I'm set apart, dear to Your heart You call me by name

All of creation was made for Your pleasure The sun and  the stars, the land and the sea But, by  Your grace,  You  have given  me favor With  You I will reign for eternity

2.
Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light:

Refrain

Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near,
When my life is almost gone,
Hear my cry, hear my call,
Hold my hand lest I fall:

Refrain

When the darkness appears
And the night draws near,
And the day is past and gone,
At the river I stand,
Guide my feet, hold my hand:

Focus on the one who has redeemed us

I know that my Redeemer lives.

What comfort this sweet sentence gives!

3.
I know that my Redeemer liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know eternal life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

Refrain

I know, I know, that Jesus liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know, I know, that life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

I know His promise never faileth,
The Word He speaks, it cannot die;
Though cruel death my flesh assaileth,
Yet I shall see Him by and by.

Refrain

I know my mansion He prepareth,
That where He is there I may be;
O wondrous thought, for me He careth,
And He at last will come for me.

http://bible.com/116/exo.20.1-17.nlt
Then God gave the people all these instructions : "I am the lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. "You must not testify falsely against your neighbor. "You must not covet your neighbor's house. You must not covet your neighbor's wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor."

There is a company that delivers lies and alibis.
You must not give false testimony. That damages relationships. It is an assault.
There are references elsewhere. Colossians. 1 Peter 2.1 get rid of slander. God wants to protect his people.
Politicians now employ spin doctors. We tell white lies to deceive.
False testimony. Happens when we deflect blame and incriminate others to put ourselves in a better position. We all become masters of shifting blame. Accuse and excuse. Adam did that.
Isaiah says the human heart is desperately wicked.
We become unable to take correction. Blaming others kills your conscience.
Deception is what we do.
We think truth is relative. My truth or yours? But God says there is TRUTH. Airplanes are built to true spec. What if your doctor asked you what truth do you want to hear today? God wants us to be true because he is true to his Word. He is totally trustworthy. The Holy Spirit is to be our guide. David confessed his lack of truth in Psalm 51. Jesus said don't be angry. Don't lust.
False testimony is character assassination. Twisting truth. Slander. Gossip. Jesus calls it murder.
Proverbs decries gossip. Prayer concerns are often the worst kind of gossip. Brood of vipers.
Be kind and compassionate.
Think = true helpful inspiring necessary kind?
Change the heart if you want to clean up your mouth.

Victor

"Sing The Wondrous Love Of Jesus"

4.
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessed
He'll prepare for us a place.

[Refrain]

When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

[Refrain]

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

[Refrain]

Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.

The Family of God

Graham Hunt pastor Church of the Rock http://www.churchoftherock.ca
Church on the corner
Family
Evokes emotions. Fun pain regret disfunction. All families are dysfunctional.
Day after Halloween sister decided to put fake blood on my bed and dance around with kitchen knives.
The Bible has all dysfunctional families but God used them anyway.
Acts everyone shared everything so they could feast all the time.
1. Believing leads to relationships
2. Actions
3. Unity
Power of vulnerability
https://youtu.be/iCvmsMzlF7o
People found value with courage and vulnerability. Courage is to tell the story the way you are. Be vulnerable.
Be willing to say I love you first. To develop connection. Courage. Relationships. Fellowship. Fun and food.
Koinenia. The 2 most inexperienced canoists went white water canoeing and tipped. They lived working together.
1. Spiritual gifts. Use them to serve one another. God has given each one a gift. Do it together build one another up
2. Accountability. Get baptized. Die to self rise up in Jesus
2. Relationships lead to Actions
Rub shoulders with others in church. Richard can hardly walk. He's old and committed volunteer Christian that needs a ride.
If you have something share it. Love for Jesus equals love for the church.
3. Actions lead to Unity. Jesus prayed for you. John 17. Be one as Jesus and the Father are one. So close.
I messed up as a kid. Got called the anti Christ. It took years to overcome hatred and forgive that church. Jesus calls us his bride and wants us to love.
If you were to die tonight would you go to heaven? Ask Jesus to become Lord of your life.

Shalom

Special music by Jamie from Winkler Mennonite Church
Clap clap clap
Come and join me at the river
Exodus 20 The Ten Commandments are not so much commands. They give us a picture of the essence of God.

You shall not steal. Malachi
A personal offense to our person. Barcelona is a place of thieves.
Canada has a black scam book. The Cat Burgler. Oscar.

Possessions. Ours. Others. God's.
1. Right of personal Possessions. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of it. Acts 2 & 4 they had everything in common. That was not universally applied. Work gift steal. Don't steal. Work and share.  Everything we have is only ours in Christ. God's gift to us.
2. Possessions in relation to others. Me and others. Stealing is always a crime. 8 ways to steal. Pay wages. Do not use false measures. Don't steal land. Revivals lead to restitution. In England there were lineups of people buying money orders to repay.
Nowadays a lot of I.P. gets stolen.

Everything you have is given to God. You are bought with a price. The sacrifice of Christ.
Make sure your relationships are right. Your time belongs to Christ. So much more could be done to spread the gospel.
Is our home God's? To bless others. You will never get poverty stricken by sharing.

Precious Lord take my hand lead me home.

"How Deep The Father's Love For Us"

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Honor Roll of Faith, Moses

Hebrews 11:23-26 Hebrews 3-12
God protected baby Moses in the basket. God will protect us in scary situations. 30 children.

Dwight@EasTview.org youth leader.

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org
Let's pray for the people in terror around the world.

By faith, after Moses was born, he was hidden by his parents for three months, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they didn't fear the king's edict.   By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter and chose to suffer with the people of God rather than to enjoy the short-lived pleasure of sin.   For he considered the reproach because of the Messiah to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since his attention was on the reward.

Persecuted but not afraid. 780 verses mention Moses. He came to see Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Little kids in sports are cheered on by the parents. When they become successful they thank their moms.

http://bible.com/116/exo.1.6-7.nlt In time, Joseph and all of his brothers died, ending that entire generation. But their descendants, the Israelites, had many children and grandchildren. In fact, they multiplied so greatly that they became extremely powerful and filled the land.

That struck fear in Pharoah.
You are an image bearer of Christ and need not fear.

If you want to be an image bearer of Christ:

1. Tell faith stories to your family.
What has God done for you.
2. Tell the story of freedom in Jesus.
God told Abraham that his descendants would be slaves for 400 years.

God will set you free. In the difficult moments in life. God will lead you into freedom. Can you wait for him?
God's word is true.

Jochabad had faith that God would keep her son safe. She released in faith.

Moses wrote the 5 books of the Bible. She told Moses the story of Genesis. He rose up to demand that Pharaoh let his people go.

We are image bearers of a faithful God. You can tell the story. Do you want to?

Do you have a spiritual mentor in your life?  If not get one. Who are you telling the story?

Abraham and Isaac

Cathy children's feature at www.EasTview.org
Hebrews 11.20 Isaac blessed his sons. What's a blessing? Good that comes from God. A friend. A child. A gift. Give blessings to others. Pieces of paper?
In Bible times people spoke blessings to others. May God give you rain and good soil. May you be served by other nations.
It took a long time for Jacob to recognize the Blessing. Bless you to be a Blessing today.

One88 is hosting Winnipeg Fringe Festival this week for 10 days.

Hebrews 11:13-22
http://bible.com/116/heb.11.13-22.nlt All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau. It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. He even commanded them to take his bones with them when they left.

In the Hall of Faith we find blessings passed on from generation to generation. Not wants and needs but blessings that God wants to give us. Relationships. Career. Hobbies. Stuff. What's important to you? Some guys hang out with their stuff. What were Abraham and Isaac looking for?
What blesses you? Air? Another morning?
God said to Abraham give away your blessing Isaac. God was to be his blessing.
Recognize the tree by its fruit. Be attached to Jesus and you'll bear good fruit.
Family trees are complicated. There are voids in the tree. Complex structure in the Hall of Faith. Unlikely People that fail but move by faith. Broken people.

It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. He even commanded them to take his bones with them when they left.

Genesis 50:24
They embalmed him. 25% of Genesis is about Joseph. Why did his bones qualify him to be in the Hall? Why do people hold on to stuff? Memories. Individualism is considered to be the highest-rated right.
Pleasing God is of greatest importance. Abraham did that. God promised him a great nation and freedom 400 years later. Do we wait 400 years for a return on the stock market? Abraham believed God. Joseph believed what his grandfather said.
Habakkuk 2.3 wait for the appointed time. The promise will come.
God will give peace while waiting. Not the kind the world gives. Wait. Don't give up. Fight for your marriage. God heals. Addictions.

Isaac would have asked for a lamb to take his place. Isaac's willingness to be sacrificed was the litmus test of blessing. Jesus was the real Lamb.
A million people were ready to exit but not leaving till we have the bones of Joseph.
You matter.

Shalom

Abraham

Cloud of Witnesses at www.EasTview.org

Youth Feature:
Andrea in the Trophy Room
Have you had to change something in your life?  1st day of school, was it scary? Was your mom there for you?
Trusting is part of the Bible.
Abraham. Hebrews 11.9 he obeyed God.
If you can't see a step in front of you, you must trust your guide. Abraham couldn't see where he was going. He trusted God. God knew the plan. Now his descendants are a nation. Trust God to guide you.

Every Tuesday night we have a concert of prayer. Come if you need prayer.
We are sending a team to Shamattawa. Greg Armstrong has led that ministry. MB Mission Action Team. July 10. http://www.mbmission.org/action

http://bible.com/116/heb.11.8-10.nlt It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

In the Hall of Faith there is more about Abraham than anyone else. He had naked faith. He hears he responds.

http://bible.com/116/gen.13.1-3.nlt So Abram left Egypt and traveled north into the Negev, along with his wife and Lot and all that they owned. (Abram was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold.) From the Negev, they continued traveling by stages toward Bethel, and they pitched their tents between Bethel and Ai, where they had camped before.
Faith is living the conviction that God is trustworthy.
http://bible.com/116/jas.2.14.nlt What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?
When we follow the Bible we see faith is an action verb. How does a life without faith differ from a life of faith? We think we have to find faith but God invites us into a life of faith. Abraham did that. When God invites you will you go?
I have to be dislocated to depend on God.
Life gets exciting when we step out with God. It was exciting to step out in marriage. Ask the parents for their blessing. That was so scary and so exciting. We fear stepping out because of the circle of comfort. Hebrews 11:11 Abraham considered God faithful. Sarah's barenness was not a problem for God.
Fear can be a place of apathy and atrophy. Faith moves us into the place where we feel barren and God can work. If this is going to happen God has to work. What are you invited to?

A Cloud of Witnesses

Andrea@EasTview.org
The card over the water cup was held up by air pressure. Can you see the air pressure? No? But now we've seen it we believe. We can't see God except by faith.

Global Leadership Summit coming up October 20.21

Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
Hebrews 12:1-2
http://bible.com/72/heb.12.1-2.hcsb Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses  surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance  the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus,  the source and perfecter  of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him  endured a cross and despised the shame  and has sat down at the right hand of God's throne.

The 1/2 marathon was a challenge.
This passage is a challenge to remember we are not alone. Others have invested in us. Who are the significant people that are part of your cloud of Witnesses? We need to speak into other people's lives.
The honour roll of faith. People who lived with enormous faith. Many of them never saw the fulfillment but still believed that God is faithful.
They are not there to be glorified. These are imperfect people. They believed in something greater than them.
Where is your faith?
Are you inspiring others?
Record the names of the people that inspired you on the church's wall of faith.
http://bible.com/116/heb.11.1-3.nlt
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

This is not about faith in doctrine but based on a faith in God through Jesus. Not about but in Him.
Not about hope in my plans. My faith will be shaken if I don't get my way. It's not about exchange of goods and services.
A friend said I've been doing everything right but what I'm asking for I'm not getting so I'm questioning my faith. Are you trying to manipulate God?
Faith invites us to participate in what God is doing.
Faith is a response to the trustworthiness of God.
Noah is a great example of trusting God. He built an Ark even though he had no idea why.
Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for. Just as Jesus is the very SUBSTANCE of God.
By looking at Jesus we see God. Weakness is my strength. Trusting submission to God like Jesus is our calling. He died for us while we were still sinners.

The Lord Table. The Lord's Supper. Our faith is based on a relationship with the one who was willing to die for us.
Take a moment to reflect on that as we share this bread and the fruit of the vine.
http://bible.com/116/1co.11.23-26.nlt
For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me."  In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this to remember me as often as you drink it."  For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again.

A Story of Redemption

Men tend not to look at maps. Some do.
The Bible maps the genealogy of people. We matter. We have a Father that loves us.
Mark Enns will talk about the last chapter of Ruth.
Next Sunday we start a new series Great Cloud of Witnesses

Mark
http://bible.com/72/rut.4.13-17.hcsb
Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he was intimate with her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Then the women said to Naomi, "Praise the Lord , who has not left you without a family redeemer today. May his name become well known in Israel. The neighbor women said, "A son has been born to Naomi," and they named him Obed.  He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

Excited to talk about Ruth. And Jesus. And the perfect Father God.
Jesus talked about seeds. Some of the seeds today are depression as a result of rejecting Jesus.

Ruth the daughter in-law of Naomi. On Father's day we talk about the pagan Moabite woman who chooses faith in God.

Maybe her husband shared the story of the God of Isreal.
Ruth became the ancestor of Jesus.
Some of us ignore the Bible. Leave it hidden. It is the testimony of God. Do again. Read the story and apply it.
The blessing of reading will last till Jesus comes back.
Bless the Lord oh my soul.
Luke 4:18 the book of Isaiah was handed to Jesus. He declared his intentions to proclaim freedom.
God doesn't cause problems, he gave His Son.
Jesus did not come destroy but to give Life.
Greek sozo save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
Matthew. The lamps and bridesmaids. The ready virgins went to the party. The rest were rejected.
Come forward for prayer. Ask someone to go with you.
I couldn't run from His presence.

Ruth. Investing in redemption

Ruth
Matt 13.44
Jesus tells parables that show we will invest into what we value.

May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the household of Israel. May you do worthily and get wealth (power) in Ephratah and be famous in Bethlehem.

God gave up his son for us. He values us wholeheartedly.

Boaz redeemed Ruth and they became grandparents to King David.

Marriages were contracts. Land and rights were very important. Inheritance was part of the deal.

Boaz had a desire for Ruth to be securely established. He acted shrewdly in the opportunity God gave him.

http://bible.com/116/rut.4.9-10.nlt Then Boaz said to the elders and to the crowd standing around, "You are witnesses that today I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Kilion, and Mahlon. And with the land I have acquired Ruth, the Moabite widow of Mahlon, to be my wife. This way she can have a son to carry on the family name of her dead husband and to inherit the family property here in his hometown. You are all witnesses today."

We spend a lot of time at the workplace. God's presence is there. Are we redeeming the people we deal with?

God is active in all areas of life.

Worship

Pastor Mark
We were created to worship. The Jews worshipped God and he gave them the victory.
Jesus said that the rocks would cry out.
Sacrifice of praise. What should praise look like?
The Psalms are all whiney. 150 praise him. Let every one praise the Lord. Worship with whatever you have. Croaking cove voice and all.
Colonization brought the gospel but also western culture. A pipe organ in a church in India.
In Nepal each people group had their own style of music. They need to have their songs.
The shamans danced to the Lord and called on Mark to dance with them.
All the members of that church had been Christians for less than 5 years. They came to church early and started to praise the Lord.
Why was it that the choir defeated the enemy? They praised and God came near.
If you have D words in your life start praising. Ps 104.1.3

Step out of your aisle and start praising.

Graduation day for children's ministry

https://m.facebook.com/Eastview-Community-Church-136470846400746/

Jesus made mud and put it on the blind man's eyes.
John 9
http://bible.com/97/jhn.9.20-33.msg His parents said, "We know he is our son, and we know he was born blind. But we don't know how he came to see—haven't a clue about who opened his eyes. Why don't you ask him? He's a grown man and can speak for himself." (His parents were talking like this because they were intimidated by the Jewish leaders, who had already decided that anyone who took a stand that this was the Messiah would be kicked out of the meeting place. That's why his parents said, "Ask him. He's a grown man.") They called the man back a second time—the man who had been blind—and told him, "Give credit to God. We know this man is an impostor." He replied, "I know nothing about that one way or the other. But I know one thing for sure: I was blind . . . I now see." With that they jumped all over him. " You might be a disciple of that man, but we're disciples of Moses. We know for sure that God spoke to Moses, but we have no idea where this man even comes from." The man replied, "This is amazing! You claim to know nothing about him, but the fact is, he opened my eyes! It's well known that God isn't at the beck and call of sinners, but listens carefully to anyone who lives in reverence and does his will. That someone opened the eyes of a man born blind has never been heard of—ever. If this man didn't come from God, he wouldn't be able to do anything."

What now? Who is the host of the Survivor show? Jeff. Time to vote. Those kicked out have to surrender the torch and it gets snuffed out. They must leave.
Jesus said you are the light of the world whoever follows me will have the light of the life.
Don't follow for the miracles. Let your light shine.

Falcon Lake Church

Pastor Brian Hamilton:
What farmer would tear down the existing barns without knowing whether he has resources
Ephesians 2.1-10 - the most important passage in the Bible?
This is our identity. In Christ now.
http://bible.com/116/eph.2.1-10.nlt
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God's anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

People who live for pleasure are spiritually dead.
Body Soul and Spirit are 3 parts to human life.
We are physical and we take care of it. When the soul is separated the relatives plan the funeral. The soul is uniquely human.

Animals do not explore the questions of life. Humans explore. Our spirit gives us that capacity.

God created 3 kinds of life. Animals have instinct. Plants don't.

Humans have the Spirit of God in them. When they separate themselves from God they are lost. The root cause of evil is the separation from God. We do not have the capacity to live how we were intended to live when separated from God. Sin separates us from God. Without Christ we are dead and doomed.
BUT God's mercy is so great that while we were separated Christ died for us to bring us to life in Christ.

We are God's masterpiece. God prepared what we are to do in His kingdom.

Let's pray Lord accomplish what you want to accomplish through me.
We celebrate that we have moved from death to life. We can't do it by ourselves. Live in Christ. With hope and future.

Growing with Joy

Church of the Rock 100 attendees Bronx Park
Graham Hunt
Growth takes time and effort.
Work smarter not harder. Why do people go to the gym? Went to try one of the machines. A muscle man came by and said he was doing it all wrong.
How can we make sure we are doing the Christian life right.
Jesus said I'm the vine you're the branches.
http://bible.com/314/jhn.15.1-6.TLV "I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. The branch cannot itself produce fruit, unless it abides on the vine. Likewise, you cannot produce fruit unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and is dried up. Such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned.

Jesus brought a new standard. Jesus is doing what we can't do ourselves. We keep falling.
It's about relationship not results.
Some people think that they should have an easy Christian love. But we have not perfected God's love in us. Jesus said we'll get pruned. Not just blessed.
We love entertainment. We get tangled with technology. Netflix lost the rights to the show. God is saying be pruned and grow. Abide in the vine. Let Jesus cut away. Grow fruit love joy peace.
Got caught cheating in math class. Then that made you show the process to get the answer.
Jesus wants us to bear fruit that lasts. Not just stapled to the branch.
You don't want Jesus to say I never knew you.
Body Soul Spirit
Eternal versus temporal realm. We waver between bad and good. We try to nail ourselves to the good side. Or do we live by the Spirit?
God does not send us to hell because of our mistakes. We need to go to Jesus and ask him to hold us so we can abide with him.
We run away from God. We tend to avoid him. We isolate ourselves from God instead of running to him.
God calls us his sons and daughters.
The apostle Peter always stuck his foot in his mouth.
He denied Jesus 3 times.
They went fishing but caught nothing. We get nothing when we do things in our own strength.
When they recognized Jesus on shore Peter pursued him right away.
We need to pursue him and abide with Jesus in relationship.

E embrace them frequently Isaiah 66
D discipline them lovingly

King Lemuel http://bible.com/8/pro.31.1.amp THE WORDS of Lemuel king of Massa, which his mother taught him:

Cradles of Eminence
Dwight Eisenhower the most loved President ever got baptised in office. The greatest person he ever met was his mother. She taught him that life will deal you bad hands.
Who knows you better than your mother. Steer them carefully.
Mother knows best.
Mom told the story Mark never obeyed. Behind every successful man is a good mother.
http://bible.com/8/pro.31.1-5.amp THE WORDS of Lemuel king of Massa, which his mother taught him: Give not your strength to [loose] women, nor your ways to those who and that which ruin and destroy kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to desire strong drink, [Eccl. 10:17; Hos. 4:11.] Lest they drink and forget the law and what it decrees, and pervert the justice due any of the afflicted.
E it takes a village to raise a child no longer. Our community is drawing them off course. 70% leave church but 2/3 are convicted and come back. Why do some not leave? 1. Parents stayed married and 2. the pastor was relevant and 3. some adult mentored them.

E mothering is part of God. He is male and female. Embrace. Romania had 1000s of babies that died without human affection. Mothers want to embrace their baby. Hugged her and it's better. If you need a hug call my mother.

D discipline we have lost the ability. You enjoy your children but does any one else love them?
Parents went on strike. Obviously the parents need some help. He who loves his son disciplines him. Disciplined people get rewarded in life. So many parents reward kids to get them to behave.
When a woman brings a child into the world she mostly knows what is the right thing to do.
Dolphin mothers instinctively bring their pups to the surface for air.
A woman will sacrifice her life for her child.
Discipline lovingly.
Jesus gave up his life for us. Embrace Jesus this morning.
