Inspired Abilities

Pastor Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
http://bible.com/116/1co.12.1-11.nlt
Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don't want you to misunderstand this. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Mozart wrote at age 4. Some people have exceeded expectations. Most of us are astoundingly average. But all of us have special gifting.

The talents were handed out based on abilities. The one that got only 1 decided that the master undervalued him so he did nothing.

What's a talent what's a gift? Talents are natural gifts. They need to be given to God.
Gifts are inspired and God given. To serve God. Surrendered to Christ.

The Corinthian church was arguing. Paul had to straighten them out. The talented were lording it over others.
Gifts come in 3 groups speaking service
Inspired Abilities are always inspired by the Holy Spirit. Nothing happens unless the Holy Spirit works in the gifted. The focus is on the giver.
Talents lead to competition. Who's the best?

Imagine a perfect church video.
If you feel neglected sorry. Let us know.

It may be a hard thing for an egg to become a bird, it would be a jolly sight harder for a bird to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.

C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

The Lord's Table. Jesus said I do this because I love you.

Healthier Growth

What's the first thing you do in the morning? Look in the mirror?
What's the reflection you see?
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see indistinctly,  as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.
We do what we do because we do what we think.
Do we tell ourselves it sucks to be me. That's a broken mindset.
Jesus is a grace giver. He provides a growth mindset.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you  to present your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship.   Do not be conformed  to this age,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  of God.

What preceded this?
http://bible.com/72/rom.11.36.hcsb For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
Everything came from him and goes back to him.
We need his mercies every day. We are broken vessels and need transformation.

Stop blaming and ask for a growth mindset. Use a larger mirror to see what needs to be fixed.
Surrender your body to God.
Coffee addicts have tough withdrawal if they decide to quit.
You need the Holy Spirit to have a Growth Mindset.
If I say I am a child of God but.... then I'm not in Growth
If I say I am a child of God therefore... I can have a growth mindset.
Submit and believe. We are beautiful the way we are.
http://bible.com/72/rom.12.3.hcsb
For by the grace  given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think.  Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.
Warped mirrors give warped images. "I can do it myself" is a warped image. Narcissism. We are meant to work together.
We need one another.
http://bible.com/72/rom.12.6.hcsb
According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of one's faith;... do it cheerily
The perfect mirror is the Word of God.
Oct 15 will teach a course on fruitful spiritual life.
GROWTH MINDSET. Pray for it. That will change you.

Astonishing Grace

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org
Emotions
A picture is worth a 1000 words

We have been forgiven. Grace.
Who wants to grow spiritually this fall? Are you desperate?
2 Corinthians 3.18
http://bible.com/72/2co.3.18.hcsb
We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at   the glory of the Lord  and are being transformed  into the same image  from glory to glory;  this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Grace is a gift that cost God everything.
We need to be loving.
Matthew 20.1-2 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.   After agreeing with the workers on one denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.
A soldier's daily wage.
He kept going back and hiring people all day. At the end everyone got the same pay. Something went wrong. There was no justice and fairness.
http://bible.com/72/mat.20.14-16.hcsb
Take what's yours and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you. Don't I have the right to do what I want with my business?    Are you jealous because I'm generous? ' "So the last will be first, and the first last."

How many of us would work for this landowner?

To give or to receive grace is always hard. Grace is a gift. This landowner was kind and loving.
Astonishing Grace
- is always a free gift.
- Keeps us living with the right perspective. Do you feel inadequate?
You are called at the 11th hour by a Loving Farmer. God knows your need
- it always works out. Complaining happens. Why? What would it look like if we were more forgiving.
- allows us to start from the beginning. Covered by the grace of God. This does not work for people who operate on results. We get the do-over. Do I consider myself the recipient of grace?

Thank you Father for providing a way out with astonishing Grace.

Mission of God

Pastor Mark Hughes
Mission of God has a church
Intersection of the 1st century church and the 21st century. Harvard was originally a seminary with 70% of graduates becoming pastors.
YMCA was started as a Christian organization and now has abandoned it's mandate. Now the Y. Why not the A?

The early church grew with the Mission of God. Took care of the poor. The real mission is to add more deciples 2,000 3,000 and multiplied numbers. The numbers are not important. Growth is.

Jesus came to seek and save the lost. That's our mission. Become relentless in reaching the world. We are on a mission from God.
1. A burden
Nothing stops Paul Romans 9.1
To bring the Israelites to Christ. Even of he lost his life.
What a contract with today. So many don't want new people in the church.
Tony Compollo said 30,000 children died last night of malnutrition but you don't give a ___ (Mennonite word for manure)

Went to remote Sable islands and took a bush road and ended up at the bottom of a giant gravel pit. No one stopped us before we got there. The people on the way just stood by and let us go to the pit. It is our responsibly to keep people from going to the pit of hell. It was never prepared for people. God does not want people to go to hell.
Grandma was so excited about Dwight L Moody she sponsored him to come to Brandon. He saw godless people going to hell without Christ. He led a 1,000,000 people to Christ without TV and radio.
Do you have a burden for the lost with the love of Christ.
The Great Commission is to go to ALL the world.
The Great Commandment is to love God and your neighbor. To love your neighbour is to bring them to Jesus.
Jesus told parables. The lost sheep. The lost coin of the wedding necklace. She got excited about finding it and threw a party.
The Lost son. When he came back to the father he celebrated.

The porn pastor said the porn star is not going hell because he's a porn star but because he has not accepted Christ. The pastor is potentially loving him into the kingdom.
Always give the invitation for people to come to a personal relationship with Christ.
God loves you.
