Jesus the Messiah

What does life look like after the Messiah arrived?
Johnnie Dodsworth www.EasTview.org
Put together a 1000 PC puzzle and one piece was missing. Very disturbing. We want completeness.
We know the Messiah is Jesus.
1. Genesis 3.14 he will crush your head you Satan will strike his heel
2. Jeremiah 33.15 a branch will sprout from David
3. Isaiah 40.3 get ready for John the Baptist to prepare the way for messiah
4. Isaiah 53.5 healed by his wounds. So we can have peace
5. Micah 5.2 Bethlehem from you will come the ruler from ancient times
6. Isaiah 9.6 mighty God comes to restore relationship YWEH is the Lord.
This is right on the mark for who Jesus was. His kingdom will have no end. He is Emmanuel God with us.
We are his body as a church. To bring peace. He invites us to participate in life.
What does life look like with him?
John 17 a glimpse at the heart of the Messiah. Read the whole chapter.

I am not praying just for these followers. I am also praying for everyone else who will have faith because of what my followers will say about me. I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me.  I have honored my followers in the same way you honored me, in order that they may be one with each other, just as we are one. I am one with them, and you are one with me, so they may become completely one. Then this world's people will know that you sent me. They will know that you love my followers as much as you love me.
John 17:20‭-‬23 CEV

The truth of the gospel is to be made known. Have unity with one another. Amazing prayer by Jesus!
Christ is the head of this body.
The way for restoration is made.
What have you done with with the invitation.

Pray as Jesus prayed for oneness. Let our community see the Messiah in us.

Communion is a symbol to remind us of the what Christ did for us.
Unity and community are part of this.

God with us

One day God did become one of us. Emmanuel God With Us. God manifest in the flesh. Sometimes we miss the magnificence of this truth. That God has come down to be one of us.
Not some spiritual personality but a real person. Like the one that you just looked in the eye. God becoming flesh.
Writer after writer has come to the importance of this truth.
The God Who created everything became a man of particular height. Before that he was a baby and before that he was a fetus.
The coming of Jesus Christ into this world represents truth more profound than any philosophy. All the great philosophers of this world could not have produced a story like this.
All mankind has been sitting in darkness and has been visited by the light of the world. The father of all Mercies has come to be at the mercy of the created.
God has become one of his own creatures. The God of the universe imploded to become a peasant baby. Like every infant that has ever learned to talk and walk then dress himself.
Men's maker was made man. That the ruler of the Stars might nurse at his mother's breast. That the bread might hunger and the fountain be thirsty. God the light might sleep and get tired on his journey.

Christmas Carol Quiz

Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
Oh little town of Bethlehem
You want a large gift or small gift?
Big and Better go hand in hand. Small gifts create more lasting joy.
Micah gave us a small details prophesy of Jesus. The micro.

Bethlehem Ephrath, you are one of the smallest towns in the nation of Judah. But the Lord will choose one of your people to rule the nation— someone whose family goes back to ancient times.  Like a shepherd taking care of his sheep, this ruler will lead and care for his people by the power and glorious name of the Lord his God. His people will live securely, and the whole earth will know his true greatness,  because he will bring peace.
Micah 5:2‭, ‬4‭-‬5 CEV

Micah said to summon the troops. The mother of battles was coming. For 700 years Israel was a battle ground for various armies.

1. Place of origin. What good can come from Bethlehem? It's too small. It means house of bread. Boaz story was in Bethlehem. Gen 49.10
2. promised gift. They wanted an earthly king. They need a Saviour. A gift that existed before eternity. Shalom
3. Nazareth is where Mary lived.
So Joseph had to leave Nazareth in Galilee and go to Bethlehem in Judea. Long ago Bethlehem had been King David's hometown, and Joseph went there because he was from David's family.  Mary was engaged to Joseph and traveled with him to Bethlehem. She was soon going to have a baby,
Luke 2:4‭-‬5 CEV
God knows the details.
4. The right place for delivery.
Be in the right place. Herod and the religious leaders knew it but didn't go there.
You are here listening to this sermon because God brought you here. Do you want the truth to change your heart? Now is the time.
Emmanuel God with us.

Rejoice rejoice

The Messiah Prophesies

Love without boundaries
Love driving motorcycles
There is a wild side. May 1976 brother broke his leg. Fixed the bike. Took brother's tutor home and had a serious accident. Lungs punctured. It was everyone else's fault. Age 16. Lost perspective of God.
Clarity of mind is important in life.

If you are thirsty, come and drink water! If you don't have any money, come, eat what you want! Drink wine and milk without paying a cent.   Why waste your money on what really isn't food? Why work hard for something that doesn't satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and you will enjoy the very best foods.   Pay close attention! Come to me and live. I will promise you the eternal love and loyalty that I promised David.  Turn to the Lord ! He can still be found. Call out to God! He is near.  The Lord says: "My thoughts and my ways are not like yours.
Isaiah 55:1‭-‬3‭, ‬6‭, ‬8 CEV

He suffered and endured great pain for us, but we thought his suffering was punishment from God.    He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well.
Isaiah 53:4‭-‬5 CEV
When we encounter our brokenness we know there is a loving God.
If uncle Joe leaves everything to you, it may end up in court to test whether it really is what he wanted.

God's will was recorded 100s of years before it came to pass.

The Lord says: My servant will succeed! He will be given great praise and the highest honors.  Many were horrified at what happened to him. But everyone who saw him was even more horrified because he suffered until he no longer looked human.   My servant will make nations worthy to worship me; kings will be silent as they bow in wonder. They will see and think about things they have never seen or thought about before.
Isaiah 52:13‭-‬15 CEV

Jesus is a servant and shepherd.

Has anyone believed us or seen the mighty power of the Lord in action?  Like a young plant or a root that sprouts in dry ground, the servant grew up obeying the Lord . He wasn't some handsome king. Nothing about the way he looked made him attractive to us.  He was hated and rejected; his life was filled with sorrow and terrible suffering. No one wanted to look at him. We despised him and said, "He is a nobody!"  He suffered and endured great pain for us, but we thought his suffering was punishment from God.    He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well.   All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the Lord gave him the punishment we deserved.     He was painfully abused, but he did not complain. He was silent like a lamb being led to the butcher, as quiet as a sheep having its wool cut off.  He was condemned to death without a fair trial. Who could have imagined what would happen to him? His life was taken away because of the sinful things my people had done.
Isaiah 53:1‭-‬8 CEV

He was born into poverty. He carried our sorrows. He was crushed.
Substitutionary death.
Carried our sorrows.

The everlasting God loves you so much.
After the crash called dad to come and take him to hospital. His dad hugged him said it's ok.
He's 92 today.
Embrace the Father's Love today.

Prepare the Way

Johnny Dodsworth www.EasTview.org
Have you ever been unprepared?
Was a goalie and forgot the jock. Lost the game. Forgot the 1st piece of equipment.
Dora the Explorer has a song that was not planned. I'm the map. It's brutal.
Prepare the Way of the Lord
This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It began just as the prophet Isaiah had written: "Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way.
Mark 1:1‭-‬2 NLT

I, the Lord All-Powerful, will send my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then suddenly the Lord you are looking for will appear in his temple. The messenger you desire is coming with my promise, and he is on his way.
Malachi 3:1 CEV

People would go ahead of the king fixing the road in preparation.
I am sending an angel to protect you and to lead you into the land I have ready for you.
Exodus 23:20 CEV

Jews that heard Mark's gospel would have connected the dots. The Torah, major and minor prophets all forecast the coming of ther Messenger.
So John the Baptist showed up in the desert and told everyone, "Turn back to God and be baptized! Then your sins will be forgiven."
Mark 1:4 CEV

You can't fix the cracks by yourself. God in human form needs to fix the sin issue. PEACE is not a lack of war. It's Shalom peace.
Are you prepared for the shalom of Jesus? The Way of the Lord? Daily take the posture of Jesus.

An I prepared? Lord I need you today.
Make disciples. That is hard.
Posture of repentance.
Respond. Ask the Lord what do I need to repent of?

Prayer from MB website. Gracious God help us prepare. Lord hear our prayer.

Hope in the Messiah

The candle of hope reminds us to live in hope for the 2nd coming of Christ.
Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
How do you define authentic hope when things go wrong? How do you look down the road?
There is no other hope than Jesus. Are you hopeful? Tomorrow will be as good as yesterday.
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Malachi to Matthew is 400 years of silence. This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham :
Matthew 1:1 NLT
Genealogy was everything. Royal descent was so important. Even today we want to know our ancestry.
Proving to be a descendant of David made you royal.

I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you."
Genesis 12:2‭-‬3 NLT

God had a plan after the Fall. Redemption through Jesus. God put Abraham to the test.

Have you placed your faith in Jesus?
What he says he will provide.
Jesus is also a descendant of David a man after his own heart. He was a glorious man. But a bloody one. In spite of that God promised his kingdom to last forever.

David was also tested. He had a wicked son and tried to split the kingdom. In the end they were taken into exile.

Jeremiah said the days are coming when a branch of David will spring up.
"In those days and at that time I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David's line. He will do what is just and right throughout the land. In that day Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this will be its name: 'The Lord Is Our Righteousness.'
Jeremiah 33:15‭-‬16 NLT

Look down the road? Where are you looking? I will trust in the promises of God. If you have never done that, do it now.
Wait with great expectations. Today. Confess Jesus as Lord. Pray now.
