Hippies said no control means love. It was a good example of no self control. Selfish feelings. The Jesus Movement came out of that. I'm not finding real love without Jesus. Self Control changed everything. In power control. Strict training.
Plato was the first to start using the term in the way Paul used it.
Gluttony is but one absence if self control. For others it's addiction to narcotics or media addictions or gossip or gambling or  newness or news or work

Galatians 5 http://bible.com/59/gal.5.13.ESV For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
The struggles or successes of today are partly a result of what you seeded yesterday. Beware of purported experiences of the Holy Spirit that are founded on loss of self control. The Spirit helps us with self control. Debauchery is not being filled with the Spirit. Getting wasted is not self control. Why waste my life when the Spirit will help me love better?
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness. The Spirit will lead us away from temptation. Plant to the Spirit.

Togethering helps us to be real and pursue righteousness. They can help you to decide on who to separate from.
When you say no to temptations you honour God. Moving forward by considering the wins.
When you are under stress how do you avoid cheese cake? Or games or t.v.? Sometimes they do help destress. But be careful not to let the relaxers take control of your time.
Write down what your temptations are and how can you run away from temptations. Who are you going to talk to about it?
