People's Church Falcon Lake

Pastor Brian is in Spain coming back to Canada. He was training missionaries. He is passionate about missions. Next Sunday is mission Sunday and barbeque day.

Pastor Bill Ehlers of Bethesda Church is preaching today. Shannon Sawatsky is on the piano. Back to the 80s music. There is a Redeemer, Jesus God's own son.

I pray that God will speak to you.

Onesimus decided to go back to slavery.

David decided to cover up his sin. That did not work. God knows what happened. Nathan knew what happened. Everyone now knows the story.

Nathan told David a story. About the rich man who stole a poor man's sheep and cooked it. Psalm 51 is his confession. Psalm 32 is his response to forgiveness: what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the Lord ." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
Psalms 32:1‭-‬3‭, ‬5 NLT

Was in Kansas this week. So very hot. Just felt wasted with the heat. Sapped. David was like that. Because of the burden of guilt. Many people get sick because of guilt. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.
Psalms 51:3 NLT
80% of some people's efforts are spent on feeling guilty. During Billy Graham's crusade in England a psychiatrist said 80% of mental patients could be released if they could accept forgiveness.
Like a snowball rolling downhill guilt gets bigger and bigger.
An addict said I feel so bad about what I've done so I'm trying to kill myself slowly. The cycle of the dammed. I deserve hell.
There will be no drugs in hell. Only the agony of guilt.
Time does not cause it to go away. The stain does not wash away.
Psalm 32 helps. Millionaires will gladly pay. Money will not buy forgiveness.
How to get to the blessing of forgiveness? Hiding makes the bones ache. Confession clears the wound. Cover up is deceiving. You have to be a good liar if you want to deceive.

Confession is agreeing with God about your sin, to get on the same page. Confess your sins that you may be healed. Cleansed.

V6, 7 pray to God for songs of deliverance.

Jesus's sacrifice paid for the sins of all people who believe in him. Past present and future sins.
That was a marvelous transaction. The righteous of Jesus was transferred to us.

When the accuser comes to us we can embrace God's forgiveness.

David had to learn a lesson. Not to be like a mule. David is a good example to us. Be responsive to God. Confess. Don't become defensive. Be soft to the things of God. The Holy Spirit will draw near to you.

The prodigal son's father gladly forgave him. The burden was lifted. You can sing again when you know you've been forgiven. There is power in the blood.

COTR Abdu Murray former Muslim

Do you want to be healed of pain on your left side under your rib cage? Let's pray for your healing. Check it out. Did you get healed?  Pastor Keith Eberhard www.ChurchOfTheRock.ca
Children's Camp International costs $5 to send a child in India to 1 week Bible camp. 95% of them will accept Jesus.
I will sing forever of your love forever come down.

Abdu Murray former Muslim:
From Michigan. Sometimes drive south to Canada. Spoke in Wallaceburg. Took the ferry that took 2 cars at a time.
Got nausea because I could not get a fixed point of reference. Our society has lost its moorings.

Are we bringing middle east people in because they need help?
We are not getting happier. In the 60s we had psychosis about Soviet nuclear attacks.
We are anxious about the confusion. We want to be a law to ourselves. Who decides between preferences? Some post truth dictator. That elevates preferences over truth. There is no objective truth any more. If confronted by truth people say I don't care.
Adam and Eve had the same problem. Their preference was more important than God's truth. Confusion is a virtue and truth is a sin.

How do you combat this confusion.
Talk about the consequences of Confusion and present the Truth. I didn't leave Islam because it's false but because Jesus is Truth.
The capital T is objective Truth. Everyone has versions of the truth? As a trial lawyer I beat him. The facts are that

1. When we sacrifice reason we lose truth and reason. That
2. We lose Accountability. Only 40% of scientific studies can be reproduced as truth. They are looking for headlines.

No one is immune to the Culture of Confusion. Because we want to be God. We think we can deliver a value system. Rough agreement concerning values. We have invented better ways of killing each other. We have agreed to be rough. Charles Murray conservative got attacked at a university.

Is there any firmament. We invert the laws of nature.

3. We loose our values. That allows people to argue that parents have a right to kill it. It has no value if the parents don't value them. What about the elderly?

I'm an optimist.
There is s source of Truth in the Gospel. The message of the Bible is all about freedom.

Freedom. You have the ability to be who God made you to be.

Truth and Freedom always go together.

Preferences always leads to oppression and slavery.

If the Son sets you free you are Free!

Jesus gave an objective test. Kill me and I will rise again. Guys who rise from the dead have credibility.

How do you know someone has value? What determines value? What someone is willing to pay.
God values you and is willing to die to pay for you.

In Africa Christianity changes everything for the better.

Sexuality is designed to be beautiful but must have a border.
God wants us to be valued.

Crash Parallel talks about our problems. I need someone to believe in.

Falcon Lake Church

Guest preacher. Pastor Brian is in Spain teaching.
A deer longs for streams of water. God, I long for you in the same way.  I am thirsty for God. I am thirsty for the living God. When can I go and meet with him?  My tears have been my food day and night. All day long people say to me, "Where is your God?"  When I remember what has happened, I tell God all of my troubles. I remember how I used to walk along with the crowd of worshipers. I led them to the house of God. We shouted with joy and gave thanks as we went to the holy feast.  My spirit, why are you so sad? Why are you so upset deep down inside me? Put your hope in God. Once again I will have reason to praise him. He is my Savior and my God.
Psalm 42:1‭-‬6 NIRV

This psalm was directed to be sung by a choir. It's a teaching psalm. V5 why am I depressed? Praise God my Savior and my God and I will feel better.
He was lonely unable to go to the temple. He was fleeing from his attackers and being mocked.
He was looking for deeper intimacy with God to help him survive.

Israel was in trouble. Do you sing the blues? Lose people we love?
If life is a bowl of cherries why do I live in the pits?
Have we trials and temptations?
  Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Is that realistic? Giants of the faith have often been very depressed and discouraged.

What steps to take when discouraged? Question emotions. We tend to question God. The Psalmist questions his own emotions. Not follow his feelings. Eject the discouraging tapes. Quit listening to yourself and talk to yourself. We tend to talk to ourselves all the time with words of discouragement. Stop it and put your hope in God.
We tend to hope things will go well. Biblical hope is confident expectation. God is there. A command to put your hope in God. An imperative. A decision to believe in God in spite of circumstances.

We all have to go through trials. God has a life jacket for you. He is with you at all times.

Hope in God right now. Throw your anchor out to God.

If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God you'll be at rest.
I will yet praise him.
Are you discouraged. Have hope in God. Have faith in God. He will do what he promised to do.

Let us pray.

Elijah - the summer series 1

Not qualified. James says Elijah was a normal bloke. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.
James 5:17 ESV

Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the Lord , the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word."
1 Kings 17:1 ESV

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours.
TRUTH
God can take a nobody and make a somebody.

That's God's job. What does it take to become somebody? Be common.
Gilead means rough hillbilly unrefined. 2 Kings 1:8 the hillbilly the Tishbite
He knew how to pray fervently. Stopped the rain. He was depressed living in solitude. God captured his heart. He steps into the presence of the king and becomes somebody.
Fear is our society's real epidemic. Not drugs.

Samuel learned that the Lord looks at the heart.

Do we believe that the Word of God is infallible? Do we follow it or ignore it? Elijah dared to speak up. Do we stand up for righteousness?

3. Commitment to God. That's what gave him the guts to stand up. I believe in Jesus. Don't just say whatever.
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV

Simple faith. Common faith with full confidence in God. Stand in his presence. Deal with the stuff.

Trust God to make your nobody into a somebody. A powerful servant of God.

Baptism Sunday Matthew

Matthew 7
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13‭-‬14 NASB
Make a decision - the world and destruction or surrender to Jesus and Life?
You need to make a choice. The resurrection of Jesus is the focal point of faith. Without recognizing the historical event of the resurrection you are not saved.
When you make the decision to follow Jesus he will walk with you. What gate are you choosing? Jesus will help you. To work in and through you. Surrender again. Pray. If you are tired of being in charge, receive life in Jesus. Pray. Thank you God for you are holy. Please continue to work in us. Jesus you are the son of the one true God. You brought life. I want to follow you.

Communion. Common union.
Bread and fruit of the vine. Symbols of what Jesus has done.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Cullen Klassen guest speaker www.EasTview.org
Providence College grad loves graphics and coffee
How to live in dependence on God.
Who is ready for heart change?
Matthew 7 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Matthew 7:8‭, ‬11 WEB
What holds us back? We are scared of what's on the other side of the door? We are full of anxiety. Made hamburgers at mission trip and got sick. Now always hesitant about cooking meat.
Sometimes church members are scared of the ones that study the Word vs the Holy Spirit worshippers.
1. God is not worried about our past failures. Sometimes when praying God does not do what we want. So we give up? Keep asking for bold things.
God gives us the key to our home.
2. God invites his children
3. Come and eat and drink. Have 3rd wave coffee. You'll never want less. God's feast is the best.
Keep knocking on God's door.
God promises to give what's in his heart. The big picture. Oswald Chambers has a good devotional.
MBMSI trips showed that some cultures enjoy each other. To spend time. To refresh. Just to be. God likes that.
We come to God ready to feel bad. Just sit there in silence waiting for Jesus. He will assure us of His love.
Depend on God and enjoy his spa time.
Johnnie will speak next Sunday. Baptism Sunday.

(in) dependence Do Not Worry

4th cafe in Winnipeg has the best latte
I get Headache without coffee
What if I got a headache without Jesus?
Johnny Dodsworth www.EasTview.org
We need to live in dependence on Jesus. Not to worry.
Worry and anxiety are a part of life. French immersion caused worry. Crying every night. Went on for a year. Had stress dreams. Every night.
Worried about success and worth. Even in marriage for the first few years.
Companies make profits on our worries. Do you have enough insurance? We focus on our worries. Grades friends directions expenses kids health future parents loved ones. Do we matter. Anxiety. Big deal.

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?  And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:25‭-‬28‭, ‬33‭-‬34 ESV
You are valuable. You matter to God.
Worry is useless. Good for nothing. God WILL take care of us. Provide clothing. Food. 2000 years ago the peasants lived day to day when Jesus said this.
Live with a focus on God's kingdom. Don't be troubled. Don't try to protect your own interests. Trust God live in dependence of Him. Then you have nothing to worry about.
Worry is a distraction from kingdom living. Choose worry or God.
Having anxiety is not a reflection of a lack of faith. Love Jesus. He sweated blood. Hematidrosis.
Cast your cares on Jesus. His burden is light.
April 2016 God called me to relinquish control of my finances. Dana took over the family finances. What a relief!
In heaven there will be no worry.
Youth leaders carry the burdens for the youth. Cast your care on Jesus.
Be a community of people that walk with Jesus. Come for prayer. Next week a coworker will share. Come to this exciting service.

Faith Tested

Pastor Mark Hughes www.churchoftherock.ca
Everyone gets tested in their faith.
Who was Jesus's favorite? John? Probably Peter. Jesus prayed that Peter's faith would not fail.
You WILL suffer trials. Tommy Burnett loved Lee Robertson. What makes a leader great? Trouble. And walked off the stage.
Who are the greatest leaders of the last 200 years?
What was one thing they had in common? Trouble. Adversity.
James 1:1 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
James 1:2‭-‬5 ESV

James the brother of Jesus. His book is the closest to Jesus's teaching. He was not a believer until Jesus died.

1. Embrace adversity
Expect trouble and face it right on.
Joseph the 11th son of Jacob had a dream. He told his brothers and they decided to kill him. They sold him and he ended up in a prison dungeon.
He gets out of prison and becomes the Prime Minister. 9 years later the brothers came and bowed down.
He always kept a positive attitude even in prison.
Keep the right attitude. How easy is it? Not. Got a fungus infection in Kenora. I got sick 6 months later. Blastomycosys was so painful.
Had an operation. Could hardly walk.
Jacob wrestled with God and had to walk with a limp for the rest of his life.
Joseph was able to see how his dots connected.
You can't always connect the dots in life
2. Exercise Patience
Faith + Patience = Results
It took 22 years for him to see the results.
Most of us are pop tart Christians. In 3 seconds? Everything now. Lord give me patience now. Jesus got instant results. We're not Jesus. If that happened you would be God and a spoiled brat. James knows we need testing.
Noah built a boat in the desert for 100 years.
Embrace adversity. It's the best thing that ever happened to you.

He mom had 22 children. Her daughter had polio and could not walk. At age 15 she was the state champion. At age 20 she was Olympic medalist.

Influence

Winston Churchill jr www.EasTview.org
Influence
Keep your eyes on Jesus. God is doing it all through me. Since 2005 I've made money and lost money.
Influence can be a burden. I may not want to be disruptive.

Have you ever been in the dark and turned on the light? It makes a big difference.

When we have a living relationship with Jesus, our scoreboard does not matter.

Learning to lead is learning to leave things behind.

Are you a dividend or a tax? You can't sit on the fence.
Kindness does not lead to the gospel. The gospel leads to the gospel. Jesus is the truth and the life.

Communion is the celebration of life. Jesus changed it all.
When the bread comes ask God what does he want to change in you?

Jesus gave his all and paid it all. History was changed when he gave his life.

A mother by Any Other Name

A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.

Mother always picks up her kid's clothes.
2 Timothy
I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
2 Timothy 1:5‭-‬8 ESV

Timothy had an unbelieving father. I did too. Pastoring my mother is hard. I can't talk to her. She talks too much.

Now my wife is giving me the 4 points
R - refuge
O - Overstate
S - Shield
E - Encouragement

Psalms 91 God is our refuge. Cities of refuge. Your home is your refuge.

Niece lost her first child. Moved into mom's home for refuge. Only mom can provide that. Goodbye cruel world. It's a hostile world. Kids are often stressed.

Cathy made the home safe. The kids could stay till they were 25 then they had to buy their own home. They moved their son out during the day while he was working. You should have seen his face when he came home that night.

Sister had a glass home and kept yelling at her kids to not touch.

Overstate.
The truth shall set you free. First you must abide. Impart. Teach values and virtues. You have to Overstate. Over and over.
Sent kids to private schools. Cathy took 10 years off. Then she found enough work to pay for school and some holidays. Sent son to St Paul's everything for the greater glory of God. Become men for others.

Shield and buckler. A small shield. Captain America. Women are the shield bearers. Children need that. Shield of faith for a hostile world. So many kids get sexually abused. She went with the kids everywhere.

Encouragement. The hand of the mother shapes the world.
Kids need Encouragement.
Middle daughter did all the sports. Played badminton and won after. Pretend that you're fresh. Win. She skipped unto the court and freaked out her opponent and won.

Specific Faith

Pastor Mark Hughes www.churchoftherock.ca
Fear is the enemy of faith. Jesus said Peace!
Jesus was specific. Peace and Still.
We would say Jesus HELP!
A small town church had a pub going up across the street. The pastor prayed that the tavern burn down and it got hit by lightening. When the owner took the pastor to court the pastor pleaded not guilty. The judge dismissed the charges saying the pub owner believed in prayer but the pastor did not.
Jesus blamed the fig tree. We blame things. TSU The Stupid User of the computer is at fault.

Mark 11
And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it. As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God.  Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
Mark 11:13‭-‬14‭, ‬20‭, ‬22‭-‬23 ESV

Mountains are metaphorical of the issues in your life. Say to your mountain and it will move. Jesus is coming to move the Mount of Olives some day.

Caleb loved Mount Horeb. Caleb asked for that mountain when he was 85 years old. He lived there the rest of his days.

Whatever means whatever in the Koine Greek. Jesus said that over and over.

Pray specifically. It will revolutionize your life. Joshua made the sun stand still. God had to stop the earth and the moon for a whole day. God did it once and said never again. God moved heaven and earth.

Jesus always prayed specifically.
Paralytic
5 Jarius daughter
7 deaf man healed
10 the epileptic
The mad man of Legion

Jesus prayed specifically. What is the issue? Address it specifically. Every disease must bow to Jesus.
One of our staff got his lip bit and it healed in time.
Know what God's will is. Pray to it. Pastor Keith named a woman's pain and it went away the next day. Praying for lower backs. It was cured.
Blind man. Jesus knew he was blind but wanted to hear him ask specifically.
God is not your heavenly butler. The whatever means whatever is in God's will. Read your Bible.
Abide in the Word. The Truth will set you free.

God will move on your behalf if you have Jesus in your life. Do it NOW.

Acting or Praying?

Pastor Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
Everyone is an actor. As we get older we wish we knew who we are. Identity crisis. How do I act as a senior?
Jesus calls us to authenticity. How do we become Jesus followers. If you are looking for applause you have your reward.
In mid eastern culture if you prayed and fasted and gave to the poor you go straight to heaven when you die.
"Be careful not to do 'good works' in front of others. Don't do them to be seen by others. If you do, your Father in heaven will not reward you.
Matthew 6:1 NIRV

Be real. Don't pretend to be righteous.
"When you pray, do not be like those who only pretend to be holy. They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners. They want to be seen by others. What I'm about to tell you is true. They have received their complete reward.  "When you pray, go into your room. Close the door and pray to your Father, who can't be seen. He will reward you. Your Father sees what is done secretly.
Matthew 6:5‭-‬6 NIRV
Jesus wants us to know that prayer is an intimate one on one with God.
Not for show. Say Amen when you feel like it. Raise your hands when you feel like it. Praying aloud is good. Doesn't need to be secret.
Let faith always preceed your prayer. The pagans repeated the same prayer to many of their gods. They didn't know which one would answer.

If you are giving up get grounded. Luke 18
He said, "In a certain town there was a judge. He didn't have any respect for God or care about people. The Lord said, "Listen to what the unfair judge says.  "God's chosen people cry out to him day and night. Won't he make things right for them? Will he keep putting them off?
Luke 18:2‭, ‬6‭-‬7 NIRV

The widow's faith was the trigger to answered prayers.
You have authority.
You didn't receive a spirit that makes you a slave to fear once again. Instead you received the Holy Spirit, who makes you God's child. By the Spirit's power we call God "Abba." Abba means Father. The Spirit himself joins with our spirits. Together they give witness that we are God's children.
Romans 8:15‭-‬16 NIRV

You are my child God says.

"This is how you should pray. " 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.
Matthew 6:9 NIRV

Jesus wants a relationship with his followers.

Praise him all you sinners children of God your Name is higher than the rising sun.

Giving

Delbert Enns www.EasTview.org
Roman commanders would ride into Rome after a victory. In honour of Jupiter. They built a forum in honour of the Victor. Showmanship.

Jesus was so opposite. It is natural to want to be acknowledged.
Jesus and the sermon on the mount.
"Be careful! When you do something good, don't do it in front of others so that they will see you. If you do that, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.  Your giving should be done in private. Your Father can see what is done in private, and he will reward you.
Matthew 6:1‭, ‬4 ERV

The religious of Jesus's day did not do what they taught
1. When giving do I seek the praise of others? 5:16 the basis of the sermon.
In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 ERV

Good deeds are to make God visible.

There are always people that need help. There will always be poor among us.

When it was time to collect alms they would have a trumpeter lead the collection procession down the street.

2. When giving don't congratulate yourself. Check your heart. Give without letting your left hand know what's going on. Post your cookies on Facebook?
Generosity is not enough.
Some religions said pray and you get 1/2 way to heaven. Fast and you get to the gates. Give you the poor and the door opens up for you.

3. Macedonians understood
You are rich in everything—in faith, in speaking ability, in knowledge, in the willingness to help, and in the love you learned from us. So now we want you to be rich in this work of giving too.
2 Corinthians 8:7 ERV
They begged for the opportunity to give freely. They had very little but they understood the love of God.
Jesus knows you are valued and loved.
Out of abundance you give. Don't look for excuses.

King Arthur and the Holy Grail

The Knights of the Round Table at http://www.churchoftherock.ca
King Solomon had no clothes compared to the lilies.
King Arthur and his knights we will rock you.
In the law it says sinners should be stoned. Let he who is without sin cast the 1st stone. No one could.
I need a hero song.
The black knight tried to stop King Arthur. He got his arm chopped off.
They discovered the Holy Grail.
Too late my time has come. Will you let me go?
He's alive Everybody dance now
What love is this to send his own!
Let the Saviour take control. Dance dance dance! Now!

Pastor Mark will share soon. What is our purpose? Book. Newcomers lunch April 30.

Jesus I sing for all that you've done for me.
Those who have a why to live can endure the how.
Monty Python is the number 1 comic movie. The best movie ever.
Spain claims to have the Holy Grail and has a temple.
The Easter story has so many nuances.
14 days before Easter Mary and Martha sent a message to Jesus about Lazarus. Jesus waited 4 days. The Jews believed the spirit would have left after 3 days.
1. First reference to the cup
Then Zebedee's wife came to Jesus and brought her sons. She bowed before Jesus and asked him to do something for her.  Jesus said, "What do you want?" She said, "Promise that one of my sons will sit at your right side in your kingdom and the other at your left."  So Jesus said to the sons, "You don't understand what you are asking. Can you drink from the cup that I must drink from?" The sons answered, "Yes, we can!"
Matthew 20:20‭-‬22 ERV

2nd reference at Passover
3rd reference at the garden
Jesus did not want the cup. He sweated drops of blood. The Gethsemane garden was locked but the guard opened the gate. Where Jesus was. My problems do not compare to Jesus's.
4th reference John says shall I not drink the cup?
Jesus was
5th reference Mark 15:23 I can't drink this cup.
3 hours God dumped all the world's sin on Jesus. That was the CUP. It was black as night.
6th reference. He drank the vinegar and said Paid in Full.
1. Nobody is good enough to go to heaven. If you are 51% good you are still BAD.
Went to India to preach the gospel. Didn't know what to preach. Everyone knows they are sinners. Preach Christ and forgiveness. Every one responded to the gospel. In the 4th village they yelled at him. Told him to go away. Normally Hindus are hospitable. One of them had been shot.
No one is bad enough to go to hell. Paul was the chief of sinners. Amazing Grace was written by a slave trader.
But by the grace of God so I go I.
Too many people think they are too cool for school. Everyone needs God.
There is always room for 1 more hypocrite in church.
The sign of Jesus is that he will rise from the dead.
He is alive. God wants us to have an opportunity to respond.

Famous Last Words: Into Your Hands

Steve Dyck:
Friends will care for you if you share your burdens. Learn to ask for help. Don't wait until you're 90.

Delbert Enns pastor www.EasTview.org

Blessed Palm Sunday to you! Walk together this special week. From tomorrow to Friday we have a program for you including a paint night.

Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
It was about noon, but it turned dark throughout the land until three o'clock in the afternoon, because the sun stopped shining. The curtain in the Temple was torn into two pieces. Jesus shouted, "Father, I put my life in your hands!" After Jesus said this, he died.  The army officer there saw what happened. He praised God, saying, "I know this man was a good man!"  The people who were close friends of Jesus were there. Also, there were some women who had followed Jesus from Galilee. They all stood far away from the cross and watched these things.
Luke 23:44‭-‬47‭, ‬49 ERV

It was a terrible scene of endless pain. He shocked the soldiers with his cry. Not words of despair but the voice of a conqueror. All history hinges on this.
Just a week before there was the big Hosanna Palm Sunday.
There was real tension in the air.

Was Jesus tempted to accept the accolades? When something is said in an exciting way we tend to follow. To act the way the crowds expect?

The disciples that followed Jesus to the garden - did they think he was getting ready to become king? Are we listening to the right voice? Jesus committed himself to the Father. Trustworthy. Do we trust each other with the intimacy of our hearts. 188 we work with people who have been hurt.

Carpet layer wanted him to hold the spike while the carpet layer hit it with the sledge hammer. Bad idea. Still have the scar.

We expect children to trust. It's not rational to trust. We teach our children to pray: if I should die before I wake I pray the Lord my soul to take. Is that morbid or what?

We carry the fear of dependencies. We need to let Jesus take care of it. Father, I put my life in your hands!

This is your will and so it is my will. I trust you Father. I trust you to catch me.

Hope and trust are intimately tied together. Jesus had hope for new life. Sunday the angels meet the women to ask them why are you looking for the living among the dead.

We tell everyone that Christ was raised from death. So why do some of you say that people will not be raised from death? But Christ really has been raised from death—the first one of all those who will be raised.
1 Corinthians 15:12‭, ‬20 ERV

There is only ONE who has the power of new life. Do you want to live in that hope? Then we need to live in the trust that the Father is the one who can make all things work for good.

That makes no rational sense that Jesus dying is the way to be saved. Pray that God will give us that hope.

ChurchOfTheRock Faith 》Forward 2

Baptism Sunday

https://www.weareworship.com/us/songs-2/song-library/showsong/3435

God is changing your foundations to rely on God. To bring fruit.

God could change the world without our involvement but He chose to work through people. Fear is natural but faith is unreasonable supernatural. The world only changes through unreasonable people. Ralph Nadar was one such man.
People of faith have to be unreasonable.

Elisha was unreasonable. He didn't EVEN bother to meet the VIP from Damascus. Just sent the message via the servant to go wash in the Jordan. That was a silly. He did it though.

King of Syria wanted to capture Elisha "You are my king and master," said one of his officers. "None of us is on Israel's side. But Elisha is a prophet in Israel. He tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your own bedroom."  "Go and find out where he is," the king ordered. "Then I can send my men and capture him." The report came back. It said, "He's in Dothan."  The servant of the man of God got up the next morning. He went out early. He saw that an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. "My master!" the servant said. "What can we do?"  Elisha prayed, "Lord, open my servant's eyes so he can see." Then the Lord opened his eyes. He looked up and saw the hills. He saw that Elisha was surrounded by horses and chariots. Fire was all around them.  Aram 's army came down toward Elisha. Then he prayed to the Lord. He said, "Make these soldiers blind." So the Lord made them blind, just as Elisha had prayed.
2 Kings 6:12‭-‬13‭, ‬15‭, ‬17‭-‬18 NIRV

1. Look for God's perspective
2. Look for God's power
3. Look for God's purpose

1. There are more with us was unreasonable to say. We look at the problems not the promise. Paul says we look at the success.
We look at the problem. Peter demonstrated that. When he walked on the water he looked at the problem and sank. Look at the possibilities. See yourself healed. That's unreasonable. If you are in a race you will not win unless you can see yourself winning.
Unless you visualize it you can't do it.
Igor Sikorsky invented the helicopter. According to accepted theory the bumblebee can never fly.

According to the recognized, proven principles of aerodynamics, the bumblebee cannot fly because of the shape and weight of its body in relation to the total wing area. But the bumblebee doesn't know this, so it goes ahead and flies anyway.

My favorite quote because, like the Bumblebee, I've overcome most of the challenges I have faced

Elisha led the army to the king of Isreal.
Jesus turned water into wine I make coffee.
We fall so short.
Feeding 5000 men plus women and children. 20,000 people. 5 loaves 2 fish. 12 baskets left over.
Jesus did what God would do. The unreasonable calling Lazarus to come alive.
Read the Bible! Believe it. Rely on the Holy Spirit. We prayed for those who could not raise their arms. A bunch of people got healed. Jesus healed people. We need to see people healed

3. They fed the army. No more war.

Azinger got cancer. You are in the land of the dying going to the land of the living. He has been healed and become a Christian.

Look at the struggles of life and have faith. Make Jesus your Lord today. That's an unreasonable step.

Famous Last Words

It is Finished
Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
Worked hard all summer in the hot sun. Helping a brick layer and fell down dehydrated.
Water is so necessary. Thirsty signifies something missing.
Jesus said I'm empty I thirst.

Later, Jesus knew that everything had been done. To make the Scriptures come true he said, "I am thirsty."  There was a jar full of sour wine there, so the soldiers soaked a sponge in it. They put the sponge on a branch of a hyssop plant and lifted it to Jesus' mouth. When he tasted the wine, he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and died.
John 19:28‭-‬30 ERV

But I feel like a worm, less than human! People insult me and look down on me.  Everyone who sees me makes fun of me. They shake their heads and stick out their tongues at me.  They say, "Call to the Lord for help. Maybe he will save you. If he likes you so much, surely he will rescue you!"  My strength is gone, like water poured out on the ground. My bones have separated. My courage is gone.   My mouth is as dry as a piece of baked pottery. My tongue is sticking to the roof of my mouth. You have left me dying in the dust.  They divide my clothes among themselves, and they throw lots for what I am wearing.
Psalms 22:6‭-‬8‭, ‬14‭-‬15‭, ‬18 ERV

Patience and thirst don't go together. Jesus is longing for things to be made right. Through the cross things are made right. God's desire. We are invited to be made right. There is a promise and a hope of reconciliation.

Like a deer drinking from a stream, I reach out to you, my God.   My soul thirsts for the living God. When can I go to meet with him?  Instead of food, I have only tears day and night, as my enemies laugh at me and say, "Where is your God?"  Why am I so sad? Why am I so upset? I tell myself, "Wait for God's help! You will again be able to praise him, your God, the one who will save you." In my sadness I say, "I will remember you from here on this small hill,  where Mount Hermon and the Jordan River meet."
Psalms 42:1‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭-‬6 ERV

CS Lewis says we are half hearted creatures.

John 4 Jesus offered living water. He can satisfy and produce a stream of living water.
Jesus answered, "You don't know what God can give you. And you don't know who I am, the one who asked you for a drink. If you knew, you would have asked me, and I would have given you living water."
John 4:10 ERV
If the people of God can't reflect the glory of God how can we achieve peace?

You are invited to the Lord's Table. The Bread represents the body of Christ and the fruit of the vine represents the blood of Jesus. Reconciliation is what he does.

Jesus chose to go to the cross. That's clear. One88.org has a Bible study and a fellow asked why would Jesus heal on the Sabbath knowing he would be hated for it? Jesus took what the leaders wanted to control and showed them how to celebrate.

What difference does it make that he chose to go to the cross? He knows that in His death we are set free.

It is finished. It is the ultimate completion of God's plan from the fall of man.

We can now abandon our miseries and join the new covenant. Thank God for the new covenant. Let go and live. Drink the fruit of the vine and be blessed.

Our Father everlasting
The all creating One
God Almighty

Through Your Holy Spirit
Conceiving Christ the Son
Jesus our Savior

I believe in God our Father
I believe in Christ the Son
I believe in the Holy Spirit
Our God is three in one
I believe in the resurrection
That we will rise again
For I believe in the name of Jesus

Our Judge and our Defender
Suffered and crucified
Forgiveness is in You

The Life of Pie

My brothers and sisters, if a person claims to have faith but does nothing, that faith is worth nothing. Faith like that cannot save anyone. But someone might argue, "Some people have faith, and others have good works." My answer would be that you can't show me your faith if you don't do anything. But I will show you my faith by the good I do.
James 2:14‭, ‬18 ERV

10/40 window has 50% of world's population. 93% are poor. Only 3% of mission effort goes there.
We have a budget of over $500,000 for that area.
2500 of the 6500 ethnic people groups are unreached. We adopted 5 of them.

The following estimate of "unreached" non-Christian populations in the 10/40 Window:

  • 865 million Muslims
  • 550 million Hindus
  • 275 million Buddhists
  • 140 million in 2550 tribal groups (mainly animist)
  • 17 million Jews[32]

Andrew a Canadian and his group started to pray for 2 unreached groups. They got taken to a Beduin tribe 5 hours away. A lot of the tribe became Christian. The chief built a safe house to shelter Christians.

During the revolution 52 churches were bombed.

CotR Sponsored a Bible translation in Nepal. Pastor got a local language copy. Now they are doing another translation.

Now sponsoring pastors and church planters in Ethiopia. 100 planters will plant 600 churches a year.

Somalia is Muslim with no rain. 100 children are dying every day. 68,000 people live in a refugee camp. 1,000 people have been identified as the neediest and will be fed and evangelized this year.

Famous Last Words - Lent

Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
Welcome to Daylight Savings

We have it backwards. We think strength is the conqueror. Strength is forgiveness.
Jesus showed us that.
Resolved to do God's will.
Luke 23:33-35 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them. They don't know what they are doing."  The soldiers threw dice to divide Jesus' clothes between them.
Luke 23:34 ERV

http://www.one88.org had an incident. Someone came in to agitate Doug the Irishman. Not a good idea. They almost got into a fight until Doug decided to sit down and use a different Strength. The Jesus way.

Forgiveness is costly. Who did Jesus say that to? Romans, Jews, disciples, you, me?
The difference between Jim Bakker is that we haven't been found out. Darkness runs through every human heart. Tony Campolo.

World class sinners are to blame for putting Jesus on the cross? Not me. I only need a wink from divinity?

When Jesus said that, it's a call for us to understand that we are in need of forgiveness.

The Prodigal son realized he was in a mess. Father I've sinned against heaven and you. There was more forgiveness than he could imagine.

Talked to someone recently who asked for forgiveness. Dave tried to brush it off. But the individual wanted real forgiveness. Not it don't matter. Real forgiveness helps us live together. You are way more valuable.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord because he trusted me and gave me this work of serving him. He gives me strength. Here is a true statement that should be accepted without question: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and I am the worst of them. But I was given mercy so that in me Christ Jesus could show that he has patience without limit. Christ showed his patience with me, the worst of all sinners. He wanted me to be an example for those who would believe in him and have eternal life.
1 Timothy 1:12‭, ‬15‭-‬16 ERV

Family Fortune not money

Church of the Rock

Babies come without instructions
They come unassembled
They are not returnable

KIDS
3. Develop a family vision
Without a vision they perish
Isaiah 65:23
Kids are to be a blessing
Their work won't be wasted, and their children won't die of dreadful diseases. I will bless their children and their grandchildren.
Isaiah 65:23 CEVDCUS06
The Prodigal son - 60% will come back by the time they are 35
Train up initiate the kids on the path. Like training them to ride the bike. Point them run alongside and then let them go.

The Jewish people are still succeeding. 2% of the population but a large % of leadership.
WASP culture is in decline. It's all about parenting. New book. The Triple Package. Parenting allows certain groups to succeed.
1. Confidence God's Chosen Superiority Exceptional Blessed. Believe it humbly. 1958 Francis Tarkenton grabbed the ball and ran with it. He has all the records. He's the greatest quarterback.

2. Humility Insecurity. Work harder. Jews have been the most persecuted and they work extra hard. They earn merit. Tell them they need to work hard or they'll be bums on the street. Mini succor is to blame. No keeping score. All winners. No. That doesn't work. A little insecurity won't hurt you. God picked Moses the looser. Thinking of yourself less. Grab a bucket and clean the windows.

3. Impulse control self discipline. Hard to teach. God said don't eat from that tree. They did.
Lines in the sand don't work. 10 commandments are restrictive? They are sign posts on the side of the wide road. Not restrictive.
Don't box them in.
Dad had a few rules. No long hair. Argued about it. March 4, 1966 the biggest snow storms. 1996 we jumped off the roof with the kids.
We have to run alongside

KIDS
4. Stay vigilant all your life. Moses got corrected at over 80 years old. 93 year old mother kept praying for her 73 year old daughter till she finally accepted Christ.
