Bread

Eat salt together and you'll be friends for life. Break bread together and you're safe. 

Bread is the most popular food. 
Christians in Jordan will yell at each other and then sit down and break bread.

Bread exists for a purpose. Nothing exists by itself. There is a purpose for everything. 

All over the world the good news is bearing fruit and growing. It has been doing that among you since the day you heard it. That is when you understood God's grace in all its truth.
Colossians 1:6 NIRV

Who likes the crunchy outside of the loaf of bread or the cherry inside? 

Jesus multiplied the bread. 

What I'm about to tell you is true. Everyone who believes has life forever.  "I am the bread of life. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Everyone who eats some of this bread will live forever. The bread is my body. I will give it for the life of the world."
John 6:47‭-‬48‭, ‬51 NIRV

Jesus is the head of life. Do we walk away from Jesus when things don't go well? Wake up. There is a bigger picture. 
People followed Jesus because they wanted to see more signs. Not to believe in Jesus. He was considered a prophet. They thought he was Moses and would keep feeding them. They wanted him to become their king. 

Too often we think Jesus should give us whatever we need. 

Communion to share the bread. Why do you want Jesus?

Jesus is testing our
Spirit of scarcity
Cynicism
Unbelief 
Self-sufficiency

The Word became a human being. He made his home with us. We have seen his glory. It is the glory of the one and only Son. He came from the Father. And he was full of grace and truth.

Once more, Jesus visited Cana in Galilee. Cana is where he had turned the water into wine. A royal official was there. His son was sick in bed at Capernaum. The official heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea. So he went to Jesus and begged him to come and heal his son. The boy was close to death.  Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live." The man believed what Jesus said, and so he left.

Jesus takes care of the sheep.
30km distance Herod's relative wanted Jesus to travel with him to Herod's castle. 
Jesus didn't do what the man wanted.

The son he lives. Zao in Greek.
In the 7th hour. The servants are excited. 
The royal became a committed follower of Jesus. His family became part of the story. 
Jesus makes things possible
Do you believe God can do it for you! 
Jesus wants so much more.

She was a good strict teacher.
Dad Jake teased her on the narrow roads. 
Lived with her for one summer. She decluttered all the time. 
Worked together on newsletters for www.LifeLightMinistries.org 
Rose Wiebe 35 years of friendship. Her clients felt safe with her. We went hiking in Pinawa knowing this could be the last time. She read missionary letters. If you have not made that commitment to follow Jesus do it today

Martha and I had a special relationship. Proof reading and editing for each other. 1994 she joined SEMC
She wore a bright dress to brighten her environment
Jesus's death was devastating and then the joy of the resurrection followed by I'm going away. 
In 2008 we prayed about macular degeneration. The dark clouds lifted. 
She shared with her SS class that she was depressed. Communication is necessary. 
Where is God? She died at home alone. 
All authority has been given to Jesus He'll be with us to the end of the age. I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS. 
You shall call him God With Us Always
This era will end when Jesus returns. The risen one is alive. 

Jesus is with you whenever. Shopping. Driving. Through all the stages of life.  I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS. 
Be encouraged. Jesus was with Martha. She heard the voice of her shepherd escorting her into eternal joy. 
There are times when we fail. A book is never finished but there is a time to publish. 
Know that Jesus is with you. Jesus made a partnership commitment.

Our family was very competitive. Mom was a great cheer leader. 

Jesus challenged Peter. Tradition does not compare to Jesus. You can follow.

I got lost in the wilderness of Arizona. Out of water. 7km off track. Finally found a road. 

How do I get to the path. Follow Jesus. 

Jesus explained, "I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through  union with me.  To know me is to know my Father too.

What map do you need? Jesus is the way. Follow him and you need no map. There is no other way.

You can't reinvent a way. He died for you.

In the world but not of the world

Delivering message from God. 

We will all transition to eternity some to heaven some lost in hell for all eternity. 

You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.
Leviticus 20:26 ESV
What's holy? To separate. Set apart. Unique. Which one is more like God? Firefly or fiery angels? Neither

I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
John 17:15‭-‬16 ESV

Real joy is for those who follow Jesus and continue in sanctification. 

What leads to self assurance of salvation? Those who think they are Christians because their parents are. 
Reduced the gospel with no Christ in their life. 
The alter call, the prayer, raised hand
Conversion requires sanctification. Conviction of sin. 
We think we have a plan for our lives. God's plan may be worse.
Put your faith alone in Jesus. 

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

At Paul's time Christians lost their lives of they wouldn't Hail Caesar. 

We announce in front the church how many were saved today when they raised their hands. We should start coaching them. 

Repentance and faith is what it takes to be saved. 
Doctrine of Regeneration.
Paul Washert said God changes a heart of stone to a living heart.

God goes deeper into your heart. 
A pig enjoys the bucket of slop. When he becomes a Christian he vomits at the slop.

Christianity is a love God relationship not hate God. 

Married men have a NO relationship with all other women.

Sin is serious 

3. Go through sanctification so God can conform you to Jesus. Take on his shape. 
4. You will bear fruit. Recognized by Jesus fruit. If not you should tremble. Are you truthful? Lifetime of good fruit. 
5. You are disciplined. Only the parent disciplines their children and so does God. 

God hates Esau and loves Jacob. 

Your assurance lies in Jesus and his finished work. 

The gospel. Open the Bible and get saved and get a sense of joy.

V3 and verse 10 - for theirs in the kingdom of heaven. Be born again and be persecuted. 
To be harassed consistently. 
Blessed are you when you are persecuted falsely. You will have your reward in heaven

2 Timothy 3:10-12
The doctrine will produce a new life style when living in Christ Jesus. 
In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be treated badly.

Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem. I went there to get to know Peter. I stayed with him for 15 days.

Expect persecution 
Paul had 3 years of revelation from Jesus. Not from a Bible school.

Rejoice and be glad. 

Some were laughed at. Some were whipped. Still others were held by chains. They were put in prison. Some were killed with stones. They were sawed in two. They were put to death by the sword. They went around wearing the skins of sheep and goats. They were poor. They were attacked. They were treated badly.
Hebrews 11:36‭-‬37 NIRV

We need to put Jesus first. 
Persecution is a sign that we are effectively living for Jesus.
The result of the gospel is peace. The immediate result is conflict. 

"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. Anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And anyone who does not pick up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. If anyone finds his life, he will lose it. If anyone loses his life because of me, he will find it.
Matthew 10:37‭-‬39 NIRV

His parents disowned him 29 years ago when he got saved. 9 months later they blessed him.

Everyone in the Roman Catholic church was good with immortality but rejected following Jesus.

God rewards the faithful persecuted. 
If we are having trouble, it is so that you will be comforted and renewed. If we are comforted, it is so that you will be comforted. Then you will be able to put up with the same suffering we have gone through.
2 Corinthians 1:6 NIRV

Jesus stuck it out and said "It is Finished"

But suppose you suffer for being a Christian. Then don't be ashamed. Instead, praise God because you are known by that name.
