Ekklesia // Church
Ekklesia what does it mean? The gathering of those who serve the Lord. Tyndale lost his life over that translation.
What is the function? We do what we do because of habit?
The church is not about one person the pastor prefect not the only place to hear from God.
1 Peter
In the same way that nursing infants cry for milk, you must intensely crave the pure spiritual milk of God's Word . For this "milk" will cause you to grow into maturity, fully nourished and strong for life— especially now that you have had a taste of the goodness of the Lord Jehovah and have experienced his kindness. So keep coming to him who is the Living Stone—though he was rejected and discarded by men but chosen by God and is priceless in God's sight. Come and be his "living stones" who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ.

Matthew 16.18 the church should prevail. What do you say? Peter said you are the Christ the Son of the living God.
Go to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit. Then you'll become witnesses. In Jerusalem https://youtu.be/bgQ2wiTefmQ
By the 3rd century you needed to punish yourself when you sinned. Middle age you paid for forgiveness.
The last 800 years we have seen reforms reforms but still have problems.
What are we called to be. To bring greater glory.
If someone asked you who is Jesus? What would you say?
Isolated stones do not make a building.
But you are God's chosen treasure—priests who are kings, a spiritual "nation" set apart as God's devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world .

Encouragement in tough times
- There You Are

I was hoping You would write to me a message in the stars
As if the stars themselves were not enough
And I awaited Your arrival here from some place very far
As if I couldn't feel Your constant touch
Why did I think that You'd send thunder
To wake me from my slumber
When anytime I open up my eyes
There You are loving me like crazy
There You are, I am unaware
There You are when my heart is doubting
Even there You are
Well, I was wishing for a miracle and waiting for a sign
As if each breath I take is not a gift
And I was acting just as if the way You gave your life for mine
Didn't have my foolish heart convinced
What did I think could 'cause this hunger
Did I ever stop to wonder
Why anytime I open my eyes
There You are loving me like crazy
There You are, I am unaware
There You are when my heart is doubting
Even there
There You are loving me like crazy
There You are, I am unaware
There You are when my heart is doubting
Even there You are
I was hoping You would write to me a message in the stars
As if the stars themselves were not enough - Written by Carolyn Arends
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me
I believe

Re: Big Gap - CBMC Leader Passes Away
When a leader passes from this earth into glory, a vacancy is created. The role of CBMC is important and requires successive leadership. Further to yesterday's CBMC Invitation announcement, below is the obituary published in the Winnipeg Free Press. You are hereby notified that a Memorial Service in Nick's honour will be held at Elmwood Memmonite Brethren Church commencing at 10:00 a.m. (details below).
Gerald Reimer further invites you to attend the regularly-scheduled CBMC meeting at 12 Noon at Perkins on Ness Ave. between King Edward & St. James Street, near Polo Park.
NICHOLAS AUGUST HILDEBRAND On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, Nicholas (Nick) A. Hildebrand, aged 66, went to be with his Saviour. He was a father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Nick was born in Winnipeg on February 8, 1952, the eldest of all his siblings. He was a Chartered Accountant for 43 years, and worked in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Northern Manitoba. He loved Jesus, his family, hunting and fishing, travelling, and story-telling. He leaves behind his children, Kathryn Labiuk (Darryl), J. Matthew Hildebrand; and grandchildren, Mason and Addison Labiuk. He will also be missed by his brothers, Jack (Lynne), Peter, Glenn (Lynn); and his nephew Julien. He was predeceased by his mother Lena (1964) and his father Jack (1989). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy. Notice of interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Arnes, where Dad first decided to follow Jesus. We are grateful to everyone who visited with our dad, and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital.

Why I'm Not a Christian

Croatian theologian Miroslav Volf wrote in his book Free of Charge:
I used to think that wrath was unworthy of God. Isn't God love? Shouldn't divine love be beyond wrath? God is love, and God loves every person and every creature. That's exactly why God is wrathful against some of them. My last resistance to the idea of God's wrath was a casualty of the war in the former Yugoslavia, the region from which I come. According to some estimates, 200,000 people were killed and over 3,000,000 were displaced. My villages and cities were destroyed, my people shelled day in and day out, some of them brutalized beyond imagination, and I could not imagine God not being angry. Or think of Rwanda in the last decade of the past century, where 800,000 people were hacked to death in one hundred days! How did God react to the carnage? By doting on the perpetrators in a grandparently fashion? By refusing to condemn the bloodbath but instead affirming the perpetrators' basic goodness? Wasn't God fiercely angry with them? Though I used to complain about the indecency of the idea of God's wrath, I came to think that I would have to rebel against a God who wasn't wrathful at the sight of the world's evil. God isn't wrathful in spite of being love. God is wrathful because God is love.

This song is composed by Brian Mclaren, from "songs for a revolution of hope."
Christ has no body here but ours
No hands, no feet here on earth but ours
Ours the eyes through which he looks
On this world with kindness
Ours are the hands through which he works
Ours are the feet on which he moves
Ours the voices through which he speaks
To this world with kindness
