Dr. David Jeremiah session 5 Self Control

San Diego Chargers Draymond Green is a new man because his 2 year old showed him what he looked like.

Self Control the 4th tool in Peter's tool kit
God has given us everything we need if we take advantage of his gifts.
Where do you most need Self Control? God taught Peter Self Control. We're now studying what he wrote.
Self Control is one of the main issues in the New Testament.
1.0 Self Control deserves priority. It's make or break.
2.0 Self Control displays maturity. Paul visited the island of Crete that was infamous for evil and liars and gluttons. Instead he should be one who is known for his hospitality and a lover of goodness. He should be recognized as one who is fair-minded, pure-hearted, and self-controlled. A certain one of them, one of their own prophets, said, "Those Cretans are nothing but liars, worthless beasts, and lazy gluttons."
Titus 1:8‭, ‬12 TPT
This goes on in our city. God wants to purify us as Spirit controlled disciples. No one had self Control
3.0 Self Control deepens discipline. Barbara needs discipline and Organization. Freedom is the length of a cord from the point of restraint. The kids can run in the fenced back yard but not the front yard.
Limitations give freedom.
4.0 Self Control demands strategy. There is no such thing as time management. Only self management.
4.1 Ask for the Holy Spirit's help. As you yield freely and fully to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit, you will abandon the cravings of your self-life. For your self-life craves the things that offend the Holy Spirit and hinder him from living free within you ! And the Holy Spirit's intense cravings hinder your old self-life from dominating you! So then, the two incompatible and conflicting forces within you are your self-life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16‭-‬17 TPT
If you follow the Holy Spirit you can be free. Gallup was an alcoholic. Jesus saved him. Controlled him. The only way to be able to have self discipline.
4.2 Adjust your thoughts
So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you.
1 Peter 1:13 TPT
Your body doesn't want tobacco or alcohol. The mind wants it.
Set your mind on Christ. The things of heaven. Most battles begin with your mind
4.3 Aquire New Habits. Steven King got lots of rejections. Now one of the most successful writers always writing 10 pages a day. Self-discipline is his freedom to fulfill him. Exercise profits a little. Get into your spiritual gym and exercise toward godliness. Ask God to give you a small victory. Your habits will become better. Omit one item a week. Don't play with your self control. Read a verse every day. Reading the Bible in a year could be hard. Clean one drawer this week. Do something. Better to do something than nothing. If you fall in a hole today take a different route tomorrow.
4.4 Avoid Tight Spots. Don't put yourself into the same spot. Take your problems off your agenda. If your television offends you throw it out
4.5 Accept the process. With the Holy Spirit's help. If you fail don't give up. Don't get haughty. Start again. For the lovers of God may suffer adversity and stumble seven times, but they will continue to rise over and over again. But the unrighteous are brought down by just one calamity and will never be able to rise again .
Proverbs 24:16 TPT
When the horses get away from you you're in trouble. Ask God to show you the enemy's strategy. The pathway to the problem has to be shut down.
