Essentials. Faith

Dave Ens www.EasTview.org
Obedience helps our faith to grow. We need faith for obedience.
Humans live by faith. We have faith that people will stop at the red light. If we buy a can of tuna we have faith that there will be tuna in that can.
A life of faith is fundamentally opposed to comfort. It is a journey without maps.
Heb 11:1-3 The substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. A substantial reality. Drives Action. Changes lives. Conviction. A substantial vision. Engages your mind. A course of action.

Build your way off this faith. Rom 5 justified by faith we have peace and friendship with God. The glory of God changes everything. God's act of grace makes peace with God. The substantial vision of grace changes our lives. God is asking us to move closer.

Look at Abraham. He is a good example to us. God wants to make us a blessing. He followed God. His father was supposed to go to Canaan. He stopped his journey before he got there. He was comfortable in Hiram. Then God called Abraham and he did obey. He went all the way God asked him to go to.

Take another step and follow. The next step will be even better. A bigger better vision.

God has more for you. Not just good enough but so much more.

Paul talks in Rom 14 about Abraham. The promise was to all nations. God calls into existence things that don't exist. Abraham became the father of many nations. He was fully convinced that God was going to do it. Perseverance.

70% of people who said they were Christians said their faith made no difference to their actions. James said that faith without action is dead. Lots of people believe in God but are stuck in mediocre mud.

God give me a vision to love the unlovable. Busines is no excuse. Jesus took the cross to show his love.

The bread and the wine demonstrate Jesus love

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow.

Righteousness

Pastor Collin Bell www.AustinEFC.com
Eph 6:13-18
A young boy went fishing picked up a red worm and got bitten. He cought lots of big cat fish. Each time he put new worm on his hook he got bitten.  Eventually he didn't feel so good. He died before he got to the hospital. Like Satan these baby rattle snakes gave a small bit poison each time.
Paul looked at the Roman soldier putting on his breastplate for protection. Righteousness is the important part of a Christian's armour. If you lose that you lose your life. You shall be holy God says.

Righteousness comes at amazing costs. God is holy. He can't stand sin. That's the mark to strive for. I can't do this. I need help to put us in right standing. David said purge me. I can't do it myself. God needs to wash us.
Rom 3.21, 23 the righteousness of God through faith. No matter who you are we share "for all have sinned" We all need Jesus's righteousness imputed. When God looks at us he sees Jesus righteousness. Rom 8:1 there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.

Amazing love how can it be that you my God would die for me?

Rom 5:20-6:2 how can we who died to sin still live in it complacently. We are called to holiness. We need to walk in newness of life. Not enslaved to sin. Not playing with rattlers.

2 Cor 6:2, 7 Paul reminds us that now is the day of salvation.

God works in us to righteousness and holiness. Righteousness protects us from ourselves.

Hosaiah 10:12-13 time to seek the Lord. Time to allow holiness in us.

Our righteousness will not get us to heaven.

Are we honoring God? Nothing is more important than a right relationship to with God.

Discipleship & Learning

Pastor Bruxy at www.TheMeetinghouse.com
Exists to make disciples of Jesus.
To say "Jesus is Lord" is to say...
1. Jesus is the center of everything
2. Jesus shows us what God is like
3. I choose to be an apprentice of Jesus (250 times the NT calls us that)

To be a physical mentor. Being mentored by our leader. Who is not visible. We need The Book

We are saying follow me as I follow Christ.
Rom 10:8-9
Matt 28:18-20
2 Tim 2:2 I have taught Timothy to teach others who will teach others
1 Cor 4:14-17
Jesus is Lord is a challenge for western Christians.
Follow me and I will make you fishers of people.
If you ever say I have it all figured out you have pride and you go back to the beginning.
When we teach we learn. Seneca.
FROSH your homework is to teach one person what you learn each week.
Are you coming back next week? We want to grow the Christian. Home church should be a safe place. Sunday mornings are the invitation for everyone to explore Christ.
Hospitality says join us in our environment. No need to prepare a big entertainment dinner.
Be friendly. Initiate conversation. Practice hospitality.
The protege effect. Find one person who is alone and be their friend.

Essential by design. God's

Del Enns pastor www.EasTview.org
Excitement confusion happens in life. Health challenges family uncertainty.
Unleashed the book Perry wrote.
Sometimes we get stuck in life. Waiting for someone to notice us. God what's for me? Following Jesus one step at a time.
One day Jesus walked along the shore and called his disciples: Follow me!
He calls us to action. Put down your fishing net.
We want to know what the end steps are. Some of us become complacent.
Romans oh how great are God's riches
It's not about me. There is a next step for you. A divine creator purpose. Touch someone. Elisha is the colour orange lived on conviction.

Ahab Jezebell Elijah

God called Elijah to anoint Elisha. He was plowing with 1 of 12 yoke of oxen in the field.
After the fire on the alter Elijah is stuck in depression. He wants to quit.
Take courage with the next step. Surrender your pet peeves. Let God speak to you in the gentle whispers.

EFree Church Falcon Lake

Prayer by opening leader in Kansas:
We have ridiculed the time honoured values and called it enlightenment.

Pastor Brian Hamilton
www.MissionalPursuit.WordPress.com @afccanada

Music by Olympic champion Michelle Sawatsky and sisters: Jesus you are the one to make my day bright and guide my life.

Michelle and her dad: At the river of Jordan you are all alone. You'll leave it all behind. Friends can't help you then.

Michelle and her dad, nieces and nephews: Amen see him in the garden bearing all my sorrows Amen amen

Michelle and youngest sister: Remember me. In a Bible cracked and faded in the years. When the cover of the sunset fills the sky. When the children leave the Sunday school. Child of wonder. Child of God.

Message:
Pray for our nation's leaders. Blessed are the peace makers. Jenna and her husband are going to Jordan. Pray for Christians everywhere.
We stand in awe of God's greatness.
We pray for freedom to proclaim the gospel.

Jonah's journey. The next chapter.
The world's worst missionary.
Jonah 2:17 The whale swallowed him. Snatched from the jaws of death. What swallowed Jonah? Big Fish.
Jonah thought he was geographical God. He thought he could run from God. But the hound of heaven chased him. Sperm whale feeds on giant squid. James Bartley survived being swallowed by a whale. If God wanted a special fish to protect Jonah, that's no problem. When Jonah woke up he dealt with the underlying issues. The belly of the fish is not a great place to live but a great place to learn. It bothered him now to be separated from God.
Commence prayer now. When he was at the end of his rope he prayed and repented. He prayed back the word of God. He quoted the psalms. Thanksgiving. Why was he thankful? God had turned him from rebellion. Then he prayed in contrition. He confessed the Lord. I turn to you Lord. About face. Go in the right direction. Say God I'm sorry.

Lady read her Bible on the airplane. Man next to her questioned her about Jonah. How did he survive? When I get to heaven I'll ask him. What if Jonah isn't there? Then you ask him.

Lord fill me with your grace so I can praise you.

Michelle on piano: From the love of my own comfort help me God.  Deliver me oh God. When I taste your goodness I shall not want.

Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.
"Don't imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword."

Josh's girlfriend tells him to sign the God is dead statement. He feels he needs to defend God. The professor will fail him if he can't convince the students.
After three lectures Josh convinced all the students that God is alive.

The Newsboys have a concert in town and everyone gets saved.

Calvin Joel Dueck 1995 - 2014

Calvin was a strong swimmer having fun at Lake St Malo when he got caught by the weeds. He fought them but was unable to kick the weeds off his legs. Even though he was with a life guard and an off duty policeman, his short time on earth was over last Saturday at age 19.

Left to mourn are his parents,  one sister, 3 brothers and countless friends and relatives.

He loved sports and won a string of medals including MVP and the golden glove.

Weird Animals

Weird Animals vacation Bible school starts today at www.EasTview.org

Interview Amanda Dacombe,  a nurse. She tries to let people see her as a beacon of light in the cardiac department. When prompted by God she shares her care, planting seeds and listening.

The Hidden Treasure
What are our treasures? House, car, jewelry, money, traditions?

Jesus came to tear down the wall of separation.
Jesus is the treasure
Treasure that is what you are Jesus you're my shining star nothing else compares to you Jesus I will treasure you. You are my treasure Lord. I will treasure you!

Pastor Del:
Our needs are so different. Thousands or hundreds of dollars. Is it worth it? We have different values. Do I want it or really need it?

In grade 5 I wanted a donkey. It was free! Very disappointed when he couldn't get it.

Is it worth it?
The game of worth risk reward happens every day. Father was a soldier hoping for liberation. When the allies came they were happy to surrender.

Jesus wanted us to know that there is a cost to follow him. To be his disciple we must carry the cross. Luke 14

Matthew 13 the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure. Legal property? The Jewish law says finders keepers. Roman law says owners own. So he needed to buy the property. The treasurer is hidden in plain sight. Difficult to find because we are born blind. Jesus needs to open our eyes to see.

If all you want is something that's "good for me" you'll never find the hidden treasure.

The man was working the land digging deep enough to find the treasure. Everyday work. Christ is there. Right in front of you. Wherever you are.

Brother Lawrence wrote the practice of the presence of God.

Men sit on the left women on the right

Mennonite Heritage Village
Traditional German service
Aeltester: Rev Dan Warkentin

Songs Willkommen, liebste Freunde hier
Ringe recht, wenn Gottes Gnade
1 Peter 2:11, 12
Beloved brethren and sisters in the Lord. God draws his people to salvation. Jesus teaches us not to serve 2 masters. Give up every form of evil. Those who give up everything will get the everlasting rewards and eternal life. Love as brothers bless everyone. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Kneel for prayer

11Dear friends, I warn you as "temporary residents and foreigners" to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. 12Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

Beloved.  Our text says we should have faith and abstain from fleshly lust. They war against the soul. I am a stranger and sojourner. Consider King David. He was humble and prayed for forgiveness when he sinned. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Saul was disobedient and did not surrender to God and his word or seek forgiveness. Abstain from all lusts. Overcome evil with the spirit of God.
Deny the lusts of fancy clothes and furniture. Live simple lifestyle.
He that does the word of God will live forever. Cut off your right hand if it causes you to sin,  our loving saviour said.  Don't give sin any room. Avoid fortification and lusting after other women.
The old man is irrevocably bad. As you live for Christ you will suffer persecution. Walk circumspectly. Always be ready to give an answer for your faith. Live peaceably with all men. Overcome evil with good. Let the light of Christ shine. Christ was rejected by the world. Be the light of the world.
By this shall all men know that you love Jesus if you love one another. Abel suffered. Many were killed for righteousness. Daniel was cast into the lion's den. The anti-Christ is doing everything he can to destroy us. Run with patience the race set before us.

Kneel for silent prayer.

May the Lord hear our prayer and be merciful to us.
Hymn #242 Kommt Kinder, lasst uns gehen, der Abend kommt herbei

Exhortation
I ask that you accept the word of exhortation. Let us thank him for his forgiveness

Kenya Africa John

CBMC luncheon meeting:
Speaker John the missionary. http://www.bergensmission.com/
42 tribes in Kenya were always fighting so God impressed on him the need to teach forgiveness. People were healed. Sight. Pastor Mary the Lady with AIDS was dying. She was a powerful preacher. She was healed.

Forgive the enemy that killed relatives. Shortly after that they were attacked at their house. When he was beaten he prayed: Jesus help me! When the pain went up he heard the still small voice and the pain went away.

When did we decide to forgive? Didn't know what to say. 16 years before after 27 years my wife said I'm leaving. That was his bottom. He prayed for healing and a heart of compassion. Needed to learn to forgive his dad. For beating him and his mom. Needed to forgive his betrayers. Kept praying for forgiveness. Now he learned to be kind. His wife learned to love him again.

He forgave 16 years before the attack. He was partly scalped and had lots of broken bones. Then they went and attacked his wife and raped and beat her for 45 minutes. She spoke the name of Jesus. She was warm. When she finally got out she lifted him into the car. Matthew 5 Scriptures came out of him while he was unconscious.

4.5 hours later Louise was operated on. When he recovered consciousness 4 days later he praised God.

Know the call of God on your life. Still goes back to Kenya every year and builds schools and orchards every year.

Answer the call of God on your life. Now.

Make your decision today. Ask the Lord to forgive your sins.

Falcon Lake Church

Special music by Jamie Giesbrecht
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place
Glory to the Lamb Oh for a 1000 tongues to sing praise in honour to the king

Frances Funk called. Said to sing familiar songs.  Jamie hosts a radio program on Radio Southern Manitoba
I never shall forget the day when Jesus took all the burdens from my soul and they were rolled away.  I'll sing and shout.

Singing since she was 11. His eye is on the sparrow. When Jesus is my portion my constant friend.  He watches me. Let not your hearts be troubled. I sing because I'm free!

Pastor Brian
The hymns were written to provide easy understanding of the theology of the church.
God's eye is on us. In Jesus as we throw ourselves on His mercy we are forgiven. We come for refreshment.
We pray for government and continued freedom to worship.
Decorate the church next Saturday
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Linda asked why don't you preach on silence.
Silence is golden!? The silent treatment. There are problems with that.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

Someone said he zoned out too much. Wise people know that they are not the centre of the universe. Some people want to be noticed and interrupt to be heard. It is good to keep silent when you have nothing to say. When words aggravate the situation. Learn. When words don't help shut up.  Do you always have to have the last word. When we disrespect others we disrespect ourselves. Let the toxic people have the last word.
When you can't say good things about others don't say anything.
We have all inherited the same fallen nature. The more you talk the more you sin. Don't talk to the police. They want you to talk so they can convict you with your own words.
Two trouble makers were called into the pastor's office. Where is God? The pastor asked. The little boy ran home and told his brother that God is missing and it's our fault.
Talking too much cuts our ability to listen. People want to be understood. We often listen just to be able to reply.
We live in the presence of God. In the silence of the heart God speaks. Mother Teresa.
Replace blessing for cursing. Love always trusts.
Solitude. Silence. Freed from business we can hear God. Silence in heaven for half an hour in the presence of God.
When was the last time you were completely silent for half an hour? Are you experiencing the awesome presence of God? In quietness is strength.

Time to be silent
1 nothing to say
2 get in trouble
3 to listen
4 to worship God

Jamie,
Oh Lord my God when I in awesome wonder consider all you have made
Then sings my soul my Savior God to thee
How great you are!

The Sower

Elton DeSilva www.EasTview.org
Matthew 13:1-2
You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. That is why I use these parables,

Elton:
Parables are good stories for children.
He told us stories that his hearers could understand.
1. Generosity.  Farmers were very selective about where they scattered their seed. God is generous
2. The seed was willing to produce. It was fertile.
3. The story is about types of soil.
Path. Farmers left a 3 ft path that got packed. The word cannot sprout in those hearts. We may have been stepped on. We may have had horrible family situations. We have experiences of hurt.
Knowledge understanding wisdom, Brings fruit.
All of us get knowledge but not all get understanding. We need to recognize that the fault is not the seed. The hearts.
Shallow soil. Lives that are unwilling to go deep. It takes energy. We may be unwilling to go deep. What do you do about this message today? Shallow relationships lead to one step forward two steps back. Are you sick of being sick? Dig deeper. God says seek me with all your hearts and you'll find me.
Sow with tears to reap with Joy. You must wait to reap with joy.
Busy soil. We are often too busy. The seed dies. If you had a slightly bigger house I would be happy? I'm okay with a dirty car.
We fill our lives with so many things. FB Twitter and all kinds of things fill our lives and we take no time for God.
Good Soil. How do we get there? It might hurt. The soil has to be turned. Clean up the rocks. Get rid of bitterness and unforgiveness. The sower wants to clean up your heart
Let him.
If we've been hurt and abused and stepped on, surrender everything to God. Stop and let God to help you grow.

Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+13%3A24-30%2CMatthew+13%3A36-43&version=NIV
Children's story Andrea: the enemy planted weeds. Hens and Chicks looks like a weed.
Some plants are good some are bad. Weeds are plants that steal moisture and sunlight. How do you get rid of them? pull them? You might destroy them? Why did Jesus tell this story? Teach us gardening? No. He told us about people. Sometimes people hurt us over and over. Do we want them to move away? Learn to love them. John 13:34
It's God's job to look after the weeds.

Dave Ens: soccer is violent. So is gardening. Hacking etc chemical warfare. Villagers use the gardening tools as weapons.
Jesus told parables to shock us in life.
Invasive Grace of God
We are shocked that the master says don't pull out the weeds. We don't always know what the weeds are. Collateral damage. Weed killer can kill flowers.
Do you trust God enough to let him do the weeding? We think we have to hack them out. No,  forgive them for being there. Trust me, Jesus said.
Mustard seed was seen as a weed. There was a law they passed prohibiting the planting of mustard in gardens.
The kingdom of heaven is like a weed? Unclean. Offensive.
The kingdom is where the king's will rules.
Not my will but Yours! I need to fit into God's story.
We build our sense of justice based on our perspective. God's perspective is so much bigger than ours. It can't be controlled. It grows. And grows. Jesus says I'm the judge. Leave it in God's hands. Rom 12:18-21
Do not think you have to be the judge. While we were still weeds Christ died for us. We didn't transplant ourselves. Gal 3:28 we are all one in Christ Jesus.
The son shines on everyone. God is the expert. He can turn the weeds into wheat. That's transformation! Leave it with him. Cover every weed with prayer.

Message bt Cal Vazina. He works for NavCanada from Timmons ON
7 minute coffee break

LOTS of bugs. Keep your mouth closed. Need lots of dental floss.

Matt 28:16 Jesus is alive. "Surely I am with you to the end of the age"
Robert Wier wrote Oh Canada. 30% of our national anthem repeats the phrase Stand on guard. How well do we stand on guard?
Daniel prayed for the people. They had been exiled for 68 years. He knew that he needed to pray fervently for his people. His people needed grace.
If we want to stand on guard for our country we need to pray for our nation.
Paul wrote to the Ephesians from prison. It is a lot of fun serving God in Canada. It was no fun being in prison.
A dark dungeon. A hole in the ground.
If we don't stand for the gospel, who will?
Paul asked people to pray for him to have the right words. So others will find Christ.
Canada is the 5th richest country in the world.
Paul was rotting in prison yet he felt blessed.
We are blessed when we are strong in the Lord. How is your devotion time with God? Next time you walk by your gaming centre kneel in front of it and worship it.
The people who worship God are blessed. Then you become a blessing to others. Pray that God will make you a blessing to others today.
Jeremiah says that God knew me before I was born. Our job is to spread the good news and to be a blessing to others.

Once upon a Parable: Shrewd

Elton Da Silva www.EasTview.org/sermons
The despised Samaritan helped the beat up man.
We all want to be more like Jesus. Disciple.
Jesus was despised. He wants us to be helpful like he is. Self sacrificing.
What is grace?
Reaching out to undeserving individuals. A Jewish man was beat up. He had taken the roundabout road to avoid Samaritans. The priest refused to help the beat up Jew. We need to pay attention to the least deserving.
2 Grace interrupts our plans. The good Samaritan was a merchant with plans to sell his goods but grace interrupted his plans. Life is so scheduled.
3 Grace is not afraid of messy situations. This man was dirty beaten bloody. He poured oil and wine on the dirty bloody man.  And then he got himself dirty by loading this man.
4 Grace comforts while making someone else comfortable. We like our donkeys too much.  Get off your ass. Grace calls you to help someone. Grace says surrender. Let someone else shine
5 Grace is costly. Money time space. $200? Finance The need. I will pray for you is often a copout. The churches created scools and hospitals at huge cost by the church.
Grace never demands the end of the story. We don't know what happened. Did the Jewish man survive? Did he still hate Samaritans?
God invites you to participate in his story.

Annie Koop has gone home

She was almost 89. Her husband Daniel is a spry 100+ years old. They flirted to the end. Very much in love.
She had a family of 10. Survived by a family of 149. She prayed for each of them daily.

She was born in Crimea and the men of her family were "disappeared" during the war. She and her mom escaped to Canada.

Donations in her memory may be made to MB Missions or Square One Media https://www.fln.ca/home/donations/

Mom loved to describe her life in Russia. At age 16 they had to flee. Make dresses of old library books. Stood up to her employer and refused to make moonshine.

Had to work to pay for passage to Canada.

She married Dan, a father of 8 in 1960. They had 2 more.

She was always helping everyone unselfishly. She was the best teacher.

Loved outdoors. Camping. Travel. Volunteered. Supported charities. Read many books.

Faith in Jesus Christ was her anchor in life.

Alan Labun:
Ps 97 delight yourself in the Lord saying yes to God.
Ps 121 help prayer
World war 2 her mom and sisters had to flee. She was featured in a movie "And When They Shall Ask"

She managed to fit into the Koop family. She hosted large parties on short notice.
The journey of life is a one way trip.  Rom 8 in all things God works... for those who love him.

There are a thousand ways to get lost only one way home with Jesus. The Lord watches over you.

To became like Jesus. That was her life.
"I'm walking through the door "The Door"", were her last words.  She had a very deep peace.

Jesus has called us in! Hallelujah!

At the Tuesday prayer meeting we have been talking about the Lord's prayer.
The youth have prayer stations. Adoration is one. Focus audaciously and shamelessly. There is no condemnation in Jesus.
The midnight conversations are the most meaningful.

Jesus said this is how you should pray. A model of how to pray:
Father may your name be kept holy,  set aside, number one.
May your kingdom come soon. Totally focused. The kingdom is in us. The kingdom come in my life. Intentional people have more of Jesus now than 30 seconds ago. The already not yet.  When you kiss your wife you are more like Jesus.
Give us the food we need to live out what Jesus has done in us. The desires of our hearts will be like Jesus.
Father give me what I need to do your work. In Jesus name.
Forgive us our sins make me holy to live for you. Make me an agent of your forgiveness.
Don't let me yield to temptations.
Last week during the baptisms we heard people say: watch me now. I have decided to follow Jesus. I want God's kingdom in me.
Lord continue to forgive me.

We would love to pray for you.
Don't quit praying. It's God's desire to give you what you need in your work of expanding the kingdom.

Luke 4.42 Jesus spent time alone with God.  If that was important to him, it should be important to us. What if we started the day with Bible time how different would our day be?

How do we make choices to concentrate on God?
"I must spread the message in other towns too"

He brings healing to the blind. Jesus sets everyone free. Share the news with everyone.

Jesus collected ordinary people as his followers.

Jesus the carpenter asked the professional fisherman to do things differently. Peter listened to the carpenter and great things happened.

Jesus called those people.

Stop and talk to people. Invest in others
What are the small choices you need to make to change and invest in your own and community growth?

Our exceptions are excuses that lead to regrets.

Mostly our choices are about choosing the good things instead of the best.

What are 1 or 2 choices you need to make today?

Why do we do children's ministry?
We hope that we will learn together to live producive and meaningful lives. We learn to walk alongside God. After we have committed to serve God.
Psalm 127:1-2 Unless the Lord builds the house... life is wasted. (President Kennedy chose this passage for a speech the day he died)
The Israelites sang this song on the way to Jerusalem. They risked their livelihoods when they went to Jerusalem for a few weeks each year.

We are all called to be completed.

How great Thou art.
