How the Resurrection Changed Everything. A Great Expense

www.EasTview.org
Pastor Delbert Enns

John 12.1-8
Mary's great expense. Why wasn't the perfume sold and money given to the poor?
Passover was coming. This was the 3rd recorded Passover with Jesus. This one was in Bethany. This is where Jesus raised Lazarus.
Jesus has a price  on his head. He knew that he would soon be crucified. He would become the new Passover lamb. Here he was with Simon the leper. They were Ceremonial unclean.
Here he was with unclean people. He was safe from the self righteous religious leaders. Jesus loves a party. We are in the party! Martha is serving. That was her love language. Lazarus had his own love language. Praising Jesus. Mary was always at the lowest place worshipping at the feet of Jesus!
The value of the perfume was $50,000 or more. She worshiped fully. She undid her hair to dry Jesus's feet. She held nothing back. She laid it all on the alter.
We tend to think that spare giving is good enough.
Some of us are with Judas. Criticize what is going on.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit.
This is not about Mary. It's the story of Jesus. For those who have no hope there is hope. We are invited to Jesus's hope. Worship him who is worthy of praise.

Pointing At Jesus

http://www.themeetinghouse.com/
The Lion The Lamb Easter series coming up

Promo: Parenting course is a good idea.

Churches are preaching Gospel Centred themes. But the point is JESUS! Nothing else. This is a person to person church.

Jesus said follow me. When we do that he takes our leadership. Submit to Jesus as Lord.

Philip became a witness immediately after he was called. We have found the messiah. not I but we. We have found the messiah. Of Nazareth (technically incorrect) son of Joseph (technically incorrect)
But better than not inviting people to Jesus. The God of the universe from Puslinch? Come and see! These 3 words are a magical gift to us. Come and hang out with us. Today people will ask can anything good come from Christianity? Come and see. Gen 27 the story of Jacob. Jacob wanted to be known as the firstborn. He was a manipulator. He manipulated to get the birthright and and the Blessing.
Gen 32 wrestling with God to get a bigger blessing. Here is the Israel with no Jacob (deceipt).
Jesus said Nathaniel was no Jacob. An honest sceptic became a believer. You are the king of Israel, my king. Gen 28 Jacob has a dream. Ladder from earth to heaven. God defines himself by the people he is involved with. I'm the God of you guys. All the people of the world will be blessed through you.

Jacob talks about that place as the thin place.

Jesus said amen amen. He starts important sentences with that. It is a Jesus's exclusive. The you is plural. You Will see heaven opened up and the angels. You'll see Jacob's ladder.

Jesus called a Nazarene is a generalization. There is the concept of Jesus making himself less.

Takeout. If you declare Jesus as Lord, you will be saved. Lord means giving control to Him.

Core community not a membership.

Today we're learning from John 1:43-51…

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."

Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked.

"Come and see," said Philip.

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit."
"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked.

Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."
Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel."

Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that." He then added, "Very truly I tell you, you will see 'heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on' the Son of Man."

DINE IN -- Jacob's Ladder
===============
That this view is correct is supported by the fact that everyone else who comes to Jesus in this chapter does so because of someone else's witness. … John the author is reinforcing his theme of the importance of bearing witness.
~ D.A. Carson, The Pillar New Testament Commentary

When we help people see how much Jesus knows them, they may have a Nathanael experience too.

Like with Thomas, Jesus reveals the most to the honest skeptic.

Genesis 27:35-36
Isaac said, "Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing." Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob?"

Genesis 32:28
Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel.

What you'll see from now on is the reality towards which Jacob's ladder, and even the Temple itself, was pointing like a signpost.  If you follow me, you'll be watching what it looks like when heaven and earth are open to each other.
~ N.T. Wright, John for Everyone

When you're with Jesus, it is as though you're in the house of God, the Temple itself, with God's angels coming and going, and God's own presence there beside you.

That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak."
But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."
The man asked him, "What is your name?"
"Jacob," he answered.
Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome."
Jacob said, "Please tell me your name."
But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there.
So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."

TAKE OUT -- Following the King

Jesus is Lord.

The Apostle Paul (Romans 10:9)
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Jesus is Lord.

How we follow Jesus at The Meeting House…

Four Qualities of Core Community…
1) Believer baptized
2) Home Church connected
3) Volunteer serving
4) Regular giving not necessarily to this church. But get connected to a great church. Help us find more Nathaniels.

Note: This is not the complete list of what following Jesus entails, but the basics of what sustaining this community entails, so that we can continue to make disciples through The Meeting House.

HOME CHURCH QUESTIONS -- HANGOUT
===============
1. Have you ever invited a friend or family member to "come and see" at The Meeting House or another church?  How did that go?

HOME CHURCH QUESTIONS -- HEAR
===============
2. Read John 1:43-51. Try reading it slowly, letting each line sink in.

a. What verse or idea stands out to you?  Why?

b. Notice all of the titles / descriptions of Jesus.  No other chapter of the New Testament provides such a comprehensive list.  What do we learn from each title?... Lamb of God; Rabbi/Teacher; the one Moses and the prophets wrote about; Nazarene; Son of Joseph; Son of God; King of Israel; Son of Man.

c. Nathanael objected to the town Jesus was from.  What are some contemporary objections raised against Jesus today?  For each one, talk about how you might respond.

d. Review verse 51. Now read the story Jesus is drawing his imagery from in Genesis 28:10-22. What are we saying when we claim that Jesus is Jacob's ladder? The house of God? The gate of heaven? The offspring who will bless all people on earth?

John 1:43-51

Genesis 28:10-22
===============
Genesis 28:10-22 (NIV)
---------------
Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the lord, and he said: "I am the lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, "Surely the lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it." He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."
Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father's household, then the lord will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth."

How the Resurrection Changed Everything

Corey Bell youth pastor
2 missions trips. 27 to inner city during spring break. 17 to Thailand this summer.

Sing: Great is Thy Faithfulness Lord unto me.

Dave Ens, Servant Leader:
Something exciting happened this week. A historical occasion review. Where were you when Crosby scored that goal in Vancouver? Where were you on 9/11?
We have shared experiences. Some of them change us and our world. Our perceptions change.

We are in the season in the history of the world that changed everything. It was an extraordinary event that changed the history of the world. Is this story too familiar already?
How can we reignite the wonder of the world changing event? Jesus is the most influential person in history.
We can't ignore him. He is not a good man. He is God incarnate. If the resurrection isn't true Christianity falls apart.
Jesus wants you to know him personally. The best evidence of the truth of the resurrection is a changed life.
Paul said that whatever gains he had personally, are rubbish compared to the power of Jesus's resurrection.
What are the things I strive for?
Eternal hope is sure and certain because Jesus rose for you. You have the power of the resurrected God in you. No one who believes in Jesus will not be saved.

We want to celebrate the Lord's table today.

Regardless of where you are at, read the Easter story in all 4 gospels. You''ll find God works in mysterious ways. The disciples should have known that Jesus would rise in 3 days. They should have been excited. When Jesus rose it was entirely unexpected.
Pray for eyes to see God when things don't go as expected. An Engineering Student sent 200 resumes. Got 1 phone call from a mine in northern Manitoba where he did NOT want to go. Now he has huge Christian influence in that community.
We have an Ironic relationships with the Easter event. We celebrate but the disciples lived in fear that first Easter.
2 responses - for fear the guards fainted. The women left the tomb in fear AND Great joy and amazement. They were pulled into the action of God.
I want my life to be what God wants it to be.

Lord's Table. For 2,000 years Christians have celebrated.

What is the Bible about?

Dr Timothy Keller
Martha and I were listening to Dr Keller's message on the way to Martha's mom today.  He concluded the message with this summary:

Jesus is the true and better Adam who passed the test in the garden and whose obedience is imputed to us.
Jesus is the true and better Abel who, though innocently slain, has blood now that cries out, not for our condemnation, but for acquittal.
Jesus is the true and better Abraham who answered the call of God to leave all the comfortable and familiar and go out into the void not knowing wither he went to create a new people of God.
Jesus is the true and better Isaac who was not just offered up by his father on the mount but was truly sacrificed for us. And when God said to Abraham, “Now I know you love me because you did not withhold your son, your only son whom you love from me,” now we can look at God taking his son up the mountain and sacrificing him and say, “Now we know that you love us because you did not withhold your son, your only son, whom you love from us.”
Jesus is the true and better Jacob who wrestled and took the blow of justice we deserved, so we, like Jacob, only receive the wounds of grace to wake us up and discipline us.
Jesus is the true and better Joseph who, at the right hand of the king, forgives those who betrayed and sold him and uses his new power to save them.
Jesus is the true and better Moses who stands in the gap between the people and the Lord and who mediates a new covenant.
Jesus is the true and better Rock of Moses who, struck with the rod of God’s justice, now gives us water in the desert.
Jesus is the true and better Job, the truly innocent sufferer, who then intercedes for and saves his stupid friends.
Jesus is the true and better David whose victory becomes his people’s victory, though they never lifted a stone to accomplish it themselves.
Jesus is the true and better Esther who didn’t just risk leaving an earthly palace but lost the ultimate and heavenly one, who didn’t just risk his life, but gave his life to save his people.
Jesus is the true and better Jonah who was cast out into the storm so that we could be brought in.
Jesus is the real Rock of Moses, the real Passover Lamb, innocent, perfect, helpless, slain so the angel of death will pass over us. He’s the true temple, the true prophet, the true priest, the true king, the true sacrifice, the true lamb, the true light, the true bread.
The Bible’s really not about you – it’s about HIM!

Relationships. For Richer or Poorer

Tuesday will be 5 years since Renee departed this earth and entered the gates of glory. We are left to grieve her absence here.

Pastor Delbert:
Relationships. Everyone drags things with them that makes relationships hard. Serve one like good stewards. With whatever gifts you have received. God has given us the gift of Love. We all have enough love but may not be aware of
it. Sometimes we fail to grow.

RRSPs are on our minds. But we forget to build relational funds. Plan today to build better relationships. Read Gary's book. The 4 seasons of relationships
1. Romantic lasts for a week after the I do
2. Reality. The dream has become unattainable. No makeup and weird noises coming from the other one. So outrageous. Embarrassing.
3. Resentment winter. If you can't get over that then the relationship falters. Negotiate the differences. don't live in seperate igloos. Love becomes a choice. It is tested. Paul says that in this season you need forgiveness kindness and get clothed in love.
4. Rebuilding. Few people make it into this season. It takes effort. BREAKDOWNS can happen any time. Loss midlife crises can do it.
What are God's standards.
Feed your soul daily. Read God's word. Don't comprise your love. Drink water from your own well. Share life with your spouse. Don't hide behind other activities. Just saying sorry doesn't work. Make changes for the better. Ask and give forgiveness. Release like God released you.
Panel discussion:

Ephesians deals with relationships.
W. V. Had some struggles and he walked out on her and 2 kids. Changed when he realized that he needed to change. Kids prayed for dad daily. Now still have troubled from time to time.
L. K. He is task oriented. They make financial decisions together. Problem is time together. Kids can drive us crazy. Love them very much. Not always kind to each other. God, change me. Have a granddaughter and the whole family goes to the same church. Everything is purrfect. I'm stupidly in love with my granddaughter.
V. I cried to God. He provided for me. It was hard. I cried a lot. I reached out. Even with a spouse around you, you need to touch your sisters. W. God and my family forgave me. The chicken is involved but the pig is committed at breakfast. When you ask God to help us be committed separation is no longer an option.
K. We sat together and made a plan to stay together and make our marriage better.

Grow in your love for God. Make your relationship work. God created us and will sustain us.

Sign your commitment again.

Persons. Some names are mentioned only once in the Bible. We tend to concentrate on the big names and pay them respect.
We tend to do that today. We honor the movers and the shakers. God honors the lowly.
2 Biblical names from Rom 16. The chapter has more than 30 names including many women who were used by God in the growth of the kingdom.
Some scholars think that Romans chapter 16 was added later. A benediction at the end of chapter 15 suggests that is the end of the letter. Did Paul add these people so others can verify the accuracy?
Tertius says he wrote this letter. Paul was almost blind and signed some of his dictation.
In the ancient world they thought that people could not think and write at the same time.
How many times must Paul have said: now where was I?
Tertius was a skilled scribe. He had enough self esteem to mention himself. His work was invaluable to the work of God.
Phoebe was a wealthy woman. Paul recommended her to the church of Rome. She was trusted to carry the letter to Rome.
Benefactor patron was needed to write the letter. It cost $30,000 to write the original scroll. Paul needed a sponsor.
2 people in the background. Inconspicuous and indispensable to the kingdom.

Relationships: The Log & the Speck

Video vignette: I will not press charges. All I ask is that you change. I'm sorry.

Pastor Del
Www.EasTview.org

The depth of our relationships is proportional to how much reveal about ourselves.
Prov 28:13 conceal transgressions=not prosper. Confession leads to compassion.
Matth 7:1-5 judge not. Take the log out of your eye so you can take the speck out of your neighbour's eye. We build walls. I'm not as good as you think I look.
We have shortcomings.
Bitterness is cutting.

What is your body language? Do you roll your eyes at everyone? Are you legalistic?  Is there a root of bitterness? It is always destructive.
The Mark. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God. Release the other person  of their debt. Forgiveness is at the core of the gospel. Release.
If you forgive others you will be forgiven.
The Nature. Unforgiveness creates trouble. Pointing the speck in other's eyes. Let all bitterness be put away.
The Result: If we let bitterness build up in our lives it defiles.

Rebuild. Forgive, release. Put on a heart of compassion. Love, the perfect bond of unity.
Justice. To pay back.
Mercy. God doesn't give us what we deserve.
Grace. Getting good that we don't deserve.

Panel discussion.
Jim Cory Lisa Jesse
Focus on annoyance and it gets me out of my anger.
Remove the log and you can see clearly.
As Jesus forgives true forgiveness does not keep score. It wipes the slate clean. God commands us to listen. We can be right.
Unrealistic expectations cause upset. Why do we feel upset? There is more to the story.
The most valuable things in life you can't put a price on. Relationships. Grace.
Anger is a choice.
There is brokenness in life. Is there hope?
God loves everyone of us. Turn it over to Jesus and there is hope.
Tackle the issues. Pray with others. Take the risk. Talk to a friend that needs healing. Pray with them.

Why do loved ones have to die? I am the thorn in your brow but, Jesus, you loved me anyway.

Sustaining Relationships

Pastor Delbert: Relationships. Gifts. We all have buckets of problems. Guilt, lack of acceptance, self-hatred, hatred in general.

If we walk into a relationship with heavy buckets and things snap because we don't want to talk about it and we can't carry our bucket and the other person's bucket.

Serve one another in love.
What interferes with that?
Disrespect for differences. Denial of the right to feel.
Failure to grow. We are all made differently. Growth happens in different ways. Sometimes things get too busy for us to grow.

1John 4.7 Love is from God. Build.

God is so good. He cares for you. Draw on God to understand and help you carry the bucket. Draw on God to help us love each other.

Marianne, Dave, Nicole,Tracy, Mark: we were designed to love each other and we need to figure out what our love languages are. Men, you need to buy a dozen roses for your love every 2 weeks.

Commandment
Those who love God must love their brother and sister also.

Celebrate the love of Christ's last supper.

Musical Sunday with 50 students in choir, chamber choir, and 50 piece big band! Fabulous blessed music!
Love Everlasting with Grace abounding love overflowing for you and me!

Sing unto the Lord a new song. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Pastor Del Enns
MBCI is a blessing.
What is next? We just came through the advent season. Now what?

There is sin in our nature. We always want to fix things. Including the sin problem. We think we are morally good. Depression and anxiety are our biggest problem. 11,000,000 Canadians will go see a doctor or shrink this year to try to solve that problem.
There is hope in Jesus. He can solve that problem. He is greater than we are and when he comes in he wants to change you. When grace is extended to you pass it on to someone else. But you can't do that if you have not received the grace of God.

Crete was a pirate island. Paul started a church there. Titus worked there.

Saw Les Miserables recently. The bishop only had a few possessions. ValJean stole the silverware. Take the candlesticks and become an honest man. I redeem your soul for God. He goes to the original scene of crime and accepted the grace of God into his life.

Who am I and why have you brought us this far? John Newton found God after living a life of a slave trader.
The Lord has promised good to me God will be forever mine.

Epiphany. The grace of God appeared.

The Pirates of the Mediterranean became Christians when they were changed by the grace of God.

Deny ungodliness and evil desires. Disown them. Live sensibly with self control.

Are your passions controlling you? Live sensibly! Righteously. Do nothing from empty conceit.

Do you respect and honour others even if they are different?

People can't become good without the love of God. The more you get to know Christ the more you extend forward. Newton influenced Wilberforce to abolish slavery. Newton said just before he died. I am satisfied with the Lord's will.

We are on a mission with purpose. Are you satisfied that you understand your mission for God?

The Dream Concert

WSO music

Audrey Voth Memorial Service

Dave Ens
Paradox a mix of emotions as we remember Audrey. Her faith has become sight. We mourn. She left us too soon. She was loved. We face a mix of emotions.
Songs:
Hosanna in the highest
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Be thou my vision O Lord of my heart
All is well whatever is His way all is well with my soul He is God in control I know I'm in His hands though seasons change we exalt His name
Audrey planned this service. Joy Klassen read the obituary. She was 57 years old.
It was good to walk with Audrey. She said I have had a good life. She grew up in Winkler. Then they moved to Winnipeg.
Audrey married Wes. He died young and she was a widow. Her dad helped her.
They started attending Breaside EMC Church. Ryan was a true gift from God. They spend many weeks camping with friends.
She loved gardening. She loved music. She worked as an accountant for many years.
Her life with Arnold brought her so much joy.
She had great compassion for children with cancer. She had an overwhelming sense of peace. Audrey means Noble strength. She way aptly named.
She wanted everyone to know that God is still in control.
Audrey's brother:
We kept in touch and were so grateful for Audrey's prayers.
Songs:
It is well with my soul
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Rick Hiebert:
She was in our caregroup where we did a study of the fruit of the spirit. See the YouTube Video
There is wonderful joy ahead.
Dave Ens:
Her body was wasting away but her eyes radiated peace and joy.
Where do you place your hope and trust?
We often struggle to rearrange life. Our bodies don't go the way we want them to. Things fail us. There is only one hope that doesn't fade. What God hopes for us in the future doesn't fade.
The people Peter wrote to had lots of problems in this world. Peter's words tell us to have a living hope.
So much of our life fails but God's promises don't. When we walk through fire the flames will not hurt you.
Freedom comes from holding life loosely. Letting God's will to be what it is and trusting him anyway. God comes to be with us. Trust Him. Trust your family to God.
Wait for the Lord. Put your hope in God's love and goodness.
Song:
Steve Dave Sandy
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound I'll be there when the roll is called up yonder

Paul uses the concept of love triangles. You, the other person, and Jesus.
Jesus helps me see clearly. Jesus loves the other person. Route our perspectives through Jesus. Reframe the other person. Jesus' perspective helps us to see the value of the other person.
Love is the foundation for the ground floor of trust. Like respect invest in you. Show you like them. Love you if it changes I'll let you know. Respect. We had an agreement. You have a good point. As opposed to but but but
I want to do something to invest in you. Do it because they are important to you.
Trust is like a switch. Hope is on top. Uncertain
We live in hope. 1Cor.13 faith is another word for trust
Dr Blake Martin and Allison the experts for the series
Every organism wants to survive. The social skills help the group survive. Pass on our genetic material. Have babies. Attachment love involves oxytocin a brain chemical. Designed by God. People don't want to see all of us. We wear masks. And that leads to relationship failures. We put up walls. Bring Jesus in to reframe. The purpose of memory is to predict the future. We reencode memory and change it. Forgiveness changes your hope for the future. What you practice you get good at. Bad memories make it impossible to see the hope for the future. Trauma can be in all sorts of things.

We don't need 100 friends. Trauma can be so thick you need a professional to help create a sliver of trust with those who have wronged you. Affirm those who are willing to share their trauma.
Where is shame holding back my relationship?
What are first steps I can take?

130113 What Is The Next Step? Become like Him

This is my story and I'm sticking with it! This is my story this is my song: praising my saviour all the day long!

Wonderful Savior wonderful God! Who can compare?

Elton DaSilva:

We just went through the season of Christmas and we know the story. Are we fans of Jesus or followers of Christ?
What does it mean to be more like Christ?
Colossians has 3 languages. Natural. Putting on dressing up with what fits. Do you pretend or perform? That may not be a natural fit.
Christ is all that matters. Barbaric slave or free.
Take on the nature of Christ:
Grow in knowledge.  Pursue. There may be things that do not fit. What not to wear show puts people in front of the 360 mirror. God wants to put you in front of His 360 mirror. The show puts all the old clothes in the garbage. God wants to throw your garbage away. Let Him give you a new wardrobe.
My old man is dead but I carry the coffin with me in case I want to revive him. Let God point you in the right direction. Let your spouse or friends help you.

Imitate Christ. To do that you must face the right direction. Get friends to help you.

Next step: allow Christ to lead you into intimacy with Him.

Cousin Jake L. Dueck memorial celebration

Larry Eidse
Became a Christian when Jake gave his testimony in church. Jake invited Larry to an Easter sunrise service. Jake has been a wonderful friend and influence.

Bern Shellenberg: Amazing Grace
There is coming a day with no clouds. What a glorious day that will be when my Jesus I will see. The one who died for me.

3 daughters share
1931 born fatherless
Became a successful farmer who learned to trust God. Wanda Denise Candice
He treasured his sons-in-law. Farming was a good livelihood. The girls learned to do all the farm chores. Without fault he enjoyed working with the girls regardless of what they wrecked.
He lived his live faithful to God. He was generous. When the church burnt down he worked hard to rebuild it. He was on the MDS service for 20 years. He loved to go fishing.
Denise got a bike and she learned to ride it the same day.
Always made friends with neighbouring campers.
Travelled all over the world. Enjoyed Palm Springs for many years.
Taught his daughters to grow up.
Always faithful resourceful family man.
Heaven is a place where joy never stops.

Grandchildren
Grandpa Dueck hugged us hard. We had absolute respect for him. He played Rook well. He loved us.
He took us to the pancake place and drove home on his bike hands-free.

Song. In the sweet by and by we shall meet on that beautiful shore.

Brent Unrauh
We remember with joy and grief. He was patient. He allowed his daughter to move far away. With each son-in-law the games became more raucous in friendship and humour.

Proverbs has so much wisdom. Take care of the farm and then fix the house.

He had strong steadfast loyalty to his community church faith. Golf fit him perfectly. Details rules to be followed carefully.

He gave to the poor through MCC.

TO be with Jesus is far better by far. He is there now. John 14 Jesus said trust.

Jake is now getting to know his father for the first time.

I feel God's pleasure when I run. Jake felt God's pleasure in farming.

Song. Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine.

Fellowship lunch.

What's your next step? Know who you are!

Open the eyes of my heart Lord I want to see you high and lifted up holy holy holy

He is calling us all by name
The same God that was crucified is calling us to the cross

Look inside the mystery see the empty cross glorious He stands above the rulers of the earth my eyes have seen the glory of the Lord

Pray for our friends Audrey & Arnold Voth. Audrey is in palliative care at http://www.concordiahospital.mb.ca/ Hospital.

Pastor Del Enns
Son Mark is getting married. The other 2 children are married and our daughter gave us a grandchild. What did I do to deserve this?
Will God be nice to me because I'm nice? Do I score brownie points for going to church?

God's grace is there for all of us.
I'm a recovered task master. We often fail to accept that the journey to grace has a starting point. Sin is an attitude that says it is my life and I will do whatever feels good. We think we are good people. Paul said no one is righteous not even one. No one can ever be made right by following the law. Go see Les Miserables. It's a good movie of grace. Go watch it!
Greek mythology says do something good and the Gods will reward you.
Cleaned the closet. The old suit was full of dust. Sometimes we need to reexamine our lives. Get out of autopilot in our Christian lives and draw closer to God. We tend to shrink the gospel. We need to have a growing awareness of God and a growing awareness of my sinfulness.

We think we need to track our performance and then we pretend that all is good. Self righteousness creeps in. Idols of life creep in: control success security etc

Gospel centered life book.

We were made right with God through faith in Christ and made us righteous through what Jesus did

Real growth happens when the grace of Christ gets bigger and bigger. God is sovereign over all.

We all desire fullness and get side tracked by fleshly lusts. To the degree that Christ fills me I am free. Spend more time with Him.

And remember
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

For the LORD your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

Sid Reimer's Funeral

Senator Don Plett usher

Dr Harvey Plett "We grieve but not without hope. We'll see him again"

Ps116 precious is the death of God's saints
When Sid's dad died Sid came into the room and dad said Jesus help me. He was a good garage keeper as a boy and became a successful auto dealer. Landmark Motors was an honest dealership.
Sid was a faithful church member and served on many committees. I was on the EMC Golf committee with him for many years.

Death will pass away.

Darrel and Denise and family sang: Some bright morning I'll fly away oh glory hallelujah. Applause.

Obituary
Born in Steinbach.  Blissfully Married 52 years to Corinne. Long list of children and grandchildren. Enjoyed Maui. Miss him so much already.

Granddaughters tribute: so wonderful to spend 3 weeks and watch the blissful marriage. Lots of tears. He will be forever my squishy grandpa. He was smiling Sid and a perfect grandpa. Worked at the garage with him and got free drinks and candy. Learned to drive on grandpa's mower. Went to restaurant Montana's for my 16 th birthday. We will miss you sincerely. We will see you face to face. In this life I will stand. Song by Hillsong
Grandpa's steaks were legendary. He was ever so welcoming. What a great guy! Everybody loved grandpa. He smiled through all his troubles.

Son: Where is Sid? Mostly in church. At the golf course. Steaks to grill. Where is Sid? At Landmark Motors. Around the world with with Corinne. Hockey. Where is Sid? Passing on his faith. Keihei Maui enjoying the sand. Grilling steaks. White wine in one hand, flipping steaks with the other.

Pastor Mike Plett (spitting image of Harvey):
Sid was always faithful to Corinne. A staunch supporter of the church and me. Sid often said I'm saved by grace and grace alone. We preach our funeral by how we live.
We need true comfort and authority. 2Cor 4. We are perplexed but not destroyed. The one who raised up Jesus will raise us up. We buy products with lifetime warranties. Humans crack and chip. We wear out. We are containers that are intended to be be serving others. Smiling Sid brought sunshine wherever he went.
We will all die sooner or later. He expected to be through the cancer by the end of the year. The treatments went as expected but his shelf life was up. He went to heaven.
We are like the jars of the dead sea scrolls. The jars were  worthless but the scrolls were priceless.
Jesus called death sleep. He is life. Sleep is wonderful. When we go to sleep in Jesus we wake up to a glorious sinfree life. Reunion with loved ones. If you have accepted him as Lord you'll see him again. You will see Jesus face to face and party with him.
We have a choice. Sid chose to believe in Jesus and that gave him meaning and purpose in life. He is now enjoying God's presence forever. To accept Jesus's offer is an act of your will.

Song: Because He Lives
I can face tomorrow
Death gives way to victory

Harvey: come and fellowship. Share
Victor Engbrecht solo:
The marketplace is empty work on earth is all suspended as the king comes through the gate
I can hear the chariots rumble regal robes are now unfolding the choir is in place the King is coming praise God he's coming for me. Praise God.
Tears. Applause.
